I think that is one of the most brilliant things about this show and very few people have never even noticed it,
I'm unaware of any commentary that's recognized this

So, is this the kinda crap we are gonna get now that it's on Netflix and everybody is watching it?

Yes, I too noticed the deep underlying political message buried into the writing. They're looking to create Implicit biases towards their agenda.

Daniel’s daughter will be banging a black dude within the first 7 minutes of episode one (S3) now that it’s in Netflix. Book it.

two dojos
two ideologies
both privileged and both playing victims
both victimized and yet advantaged
each side feeling they have been the ones that they have risen above their oppressors
each side ignores their own sin or excuses it by saying their righteousness justifies their actions
both recruit from the marginalized the most simple-minded buy into the ideology ( Hawk in a neo-Nazi and that pussy that runs and has others fight for him is so soy)
both flip on their own "principles" to excuse their actions
both convinced it's up to them to save the Valley from the other Dojo in everything they do is right and everything the other Dojo does is wrong
neither is listening to the other convinced of their own righteousness just ruining their community / familes/business neighbors bn their actions and all the time all they are is a karate school

Maybe they are just trying to continue the story in a modern setting and tweaking the nose of the original movie. Sounds fun to me but I guess some people hate fun.

Both sidesism was so early 2000s
And yes I’m perfectly aware you’ll say that proves you right.

Cobra Kai is an 80s Villain teaching nerds to be 80s Villains but for a good reason.
It’s awesome.
And like the Karate kid having a mid life crisis or whatever
