Tough to watch at times but worth your time. Good performance from Tom Holland.

Watched it last night

Good movie, he may have been up for awards on this one had they released it earlier

Had no idea it was based on the guy who wrote the book and based on his life

Walker had been in a federal prison in Ashland, Kentucky, for bank robbery since 2013, and wrote the book on a typewriter over the course of several years. He was released from prison early, in October 2019.

I would assume the whole druggie doing depraved things to score drugs.

I haven't seen it yet. But, based on the trailer, it's probably not Requiem for a Dream, but it probably shows some pretty depraved shite.

Thanks NYC. Plan to watch this before the end of the week. Really like Holland branching out.

I didn't know that either.

What's up with Apple TV and semi-autobiographical books written by authors imprisoned for armed robbery? They are developing a series adaptation of Shantaram as well.

it's mostly tough to watch because it's 40 minutes too long and repetitive.

I was about an hour and 40 minutes into this movie before I came around to realizing that I liked it. I was teetering back-and-forth for the first 99 minutes whether I liked it or not. I like the breaking the fourth wall stuff, it came off kind of like a movie like Vice, and then otherwise it very much felt like a Joe and Anthony Russo movie.

I didn’t really care a whole lot for the stuff in Afghanistan, to me it really picked up once he got home, realized that his life wasn’t really worth much, and started getting heavy into drugs

I thought it was a Cherry 2000 remake.

My only problem with the movie is that we spend the entire movie watching a downward spiral and then get five minutes of recovery via montage.

Holland and Bravo, both gave great performances.
