Members of Hollywood’s Deaf community are boycotting “The Stand” after a hearing actor was cast to play a Deaf character in the CBS All Access limited series “The Stand.”
On Thursday, Dec. 17 — the day the series based on Stephen King’s 1978 novel premiered — a statement was posted to Twitter signed by 70 Deaf professionals who protested the show’s lack of Deaf representation after hearing actor Henry Zaga was picked to play Deaf character Nick Andros.
Dubbed “We Stand Against The Stand,” the statement asserts that “not one Deaf professional actor was called in to audition for the role,” and pledges not to “endorse, watch, or support” the miniseries.
So much for the concept of acting

Came to see a Babylon Bee article. Leaving with happiness that this is real. Who needs fictional comedy when we have the real life version

Are they sure?

I can go either way on this. If an actor is good enough then you can't tell whether they are deaf or not. It's not like trying to make Malcom X white or shoehorning a gay sex scene into Rocky.

If they would just ignore the sumbitches! Nothing will happen with a miniscule boycott.
When will people learn to stop bowing down to the intellectually weak?

This boycott is going to fall on deaf ears.

The deaf community is a weird, hostile cult. I say this because my sister is a deaf education specialist and the stories she tells are super strange. She not only teaches them but hangs out with them, socializes with them, etc. She achieved a MS in deaf education from Gallaudet in DC which is supposed to be the top deaf school. She is very active in deaf education.
They refer to hearing people as “the others.” When they become angry with my sister they tell her she is acting “like one of ‘them,’ the ‘others.’”
They look upon people who undergo treatments and device experimentation with great scorn, essentially shunning them, bullying them, and demonstratively abusing them.
It’s because they’ve formed their own little subculture to themselves. They openly tell my sister that if they could hear they would choose not to. It’s like they prefer to be deaf.
Now I’m not saying everyone is like that, obviously not. Many hearing impaired people try desperately to gain some semblance of hearing. But most of the deaf community is committed to themselves and being deaf.

Rob Lowe wasn't deaf. Actually the character was just mute and even spoke towards the end.

'5 people on Twitter' get their way on anything because moronic companies continue to cave in to them, every single time.
