The stuff I'd really like to see is from the '60s: Mel Brooks, Woody Allen... Supposedly Sam Cooke sang "A Change Is Gonna Come" on The Tonight Show in early 1964, a year before it was released as a single.

Unfortunately almost all those shows have been erased...

Dang... caught a little of George Burns. I don't think TCM did a lot promoting on this. This is the first I'm hearing they doing carson.

Anyway... I'll share one of my favorite Carson clips. Ed Ames doing the tomahawk chop... Tomahawk Clip

Missed it and forgot to DVR.
Saw the others and did enjoy. Would love to see more and like Kafka, would love to see older ones.

I watched him every weeknight during my sophomore, junior and senior years of high school (75-77). Didn't watch as much in college until I took a job working for a 73 year old guy that watched every night. He came in talking about Carson every day so I started back watching again most nights throughout the early 80's. Got hooked on Letterman because of the Carson Jones.

Is that the one where he drops the joke "sex at my age is like trying to shoot pool with a rope" ?

GOAT line right there

One of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life was a Carson "Aunt Blabby" sketch -- that goes completely wrong. The planned jokes bomb, and Ed McMahon decides to just sit down and watch Carson try to work his way out.

It was probably from the '70s -- I saw it on the "Best of Carson" show in the '80s. I would love to see it again.

Oh, and you can't have a Carson thread without this:

"Just the facts" -- Johnny Carson meets Jack Webb

I only saw one promo for it. It's on Monday night at 7:00 during July only. I loved the show as a kid and in the early years. It was good entertainment that we don't have at all today.
