How does him getting old work? Because then he wouldn’t of been able to help beat Thanos.

Stop starting so many useless threads. You could ask this on the spoiler thread.

SPOILERS (you should tag the thread with that)

It's post-Thanos 2023 Cap that goes back in time.

My understanding is that he returned everything, closed all the loops and then used his last jump to go back to the 1940’s rather than return to 2023.

So, he lived a secret life with Peggy. He lived even through his original self’s adventures in the 2010’s, past Peggy’s death and stayed in the shadows. Basically, there were two Caps at that time, just one was old and hiding.

Then he came to the lake bench exactly when he knew they were sending him to the past.

Cap existed in the timeline twice (briefly he existed in it three times when he and Tony went to SHIELD). Once frozen, then unfrozen and the other is when he went back in time and spent his life with Peggy.

He knew what was coming but also knew he couldn't interfere without risking making it worse (besides, he was too old to really participate).

I’ve seen the movie 3 times this weekend.

Cap returning the soul stone is a big issue for me.

Sometime this week, I’ll post my thoughts on the movie lol. I’ve been avoiding threads on this board so I don’t deep dive into it, but I’ll say that I’ve probably spent 6 hours talking about it with friends, and at times others around(strangers) us joined in.

Only the very best movies cause that kind of response.

Why? You need a life to TAKE the stone. Returning it is probably "Here you go Skull." There's no need to explain that.

Yeah, I'm still not sure how he got old. I understand the going back in time thing, but wouldn't he still have been the same Cap?

That thread is out of control. This movie actually needs individual threads dedicated to discussing each subject matter that is confusing. Even popular YouTube reactors have said they may be putting out several videos to cover a the points in the movie.

Yep and I think he took some 2023 technology or some kind of spell from Dr. Strange that enabled him to hide his real face in public and then the only person he'll allow to see his real face in private is his wife Peggy.

Basically lived life wearing someone else's face and showed his real face to his wife in private.

This would explain why Sharon carter didn't recognize Cap and still made out with her by marriage uncle in Civil War.

Huh? No need for anything you just said. Cap was frozen all of that time.

Dude, Captain America was a bit of a celebrity in the 40s and the government had and still have a lot of files on him with a lot of pictures too. He did shows everywhere before he fought in the war. If he walked about in public in the 40s wearing his real face, he would been recognized pretty fast and the SSR and the Army would've picked him up and it would've screwed up the events of the 2010s.

Why do you think it was considered a resurrection of sorts when they dug him out of the ice? Nobody had a clue where he was for the past 70 years until SHIELD found him by accident.

Wasn’t his face always covered for those?

My issue being it’s a confrontation that should’ve been on screen.

Also, Rogers wouldn’t give the stone to Skull...He just wouldnt. Regardless of timeline branches. Keeping that stone doesn’t feel like it should have repercussions.

Why not? Skull is basically dead, he's a non-entity now and a slave to the stones. Yes he would put it back.

Well, technically, once the Soul Stone is released he’s free at any time to go somewhere, according to The Russos’ post IW interviews.

So in 2018, he’s free to leave & provided he survives the Snap, he’s quasi alive and well.

But since Cap had no clue it’s Red Skull (Hawkeye doesn’t mention him by name, which is weird considering he’s a historical Earthly figure with a close connection to Captain America)guarding the Soul Stone and returning it does not undo Natasha’s Sacrifice, why return it at all?

Cap already altered the main timeline by staying in the past...& he made that choice before he left, as the goodbye with Bucky implies.

For all intents and purposes we still know very little about the Soul Stone.
