With the insane amount of hype this movie is getting by the chance of it being a disappointment will of course go up. For me I think they’ll nail it as the other two MCU Spidey films have been pretty solid. But I don’t think I’ve seen this level of hype for a Spider-Man film ever

The hype is surrounded by the spider man multiverse getting thrust into the limelight with other variations from past movies. It’s amazing that you can see Tom Holland’s Spider-Man interact with the OG Doc Ock. Whether they have a good and cohesive plot remains to be seen. I remember the main issue with the original Spider-Man 3 was having too many villains that completely bloated the movie and really hamstrung any attempts to flesh out character development and not to mention emo Spider-Man.

My concern is it is going to be more a set up for MOM and less of a stand alone Spidey film

If we have a central villain (and I think we do), this won’t be an issue. If they can pull of Infinity War and Endgame, they can pull this off.

Plus here’s the problem with Spider-Man 3: the studio is a shitshow and the producers forced Raimi to put in what they wanted. Raimi just wanted Green Goblin 2 and Sandman, but the studio forced him to do it and kind of did a “frick you” to the studio. Let’s look at the number of plot lines and issues Peter has:

1) Peter vs Harry
2) Peter vs the Symbiote
3) Peter deciding to break up with MJ for Gwen Stacy
4) Peter vs Sandman/taking down his uncle’s killer
5) Peter vs Eddie Brock
6) All these coming together in the end

It’s a shitshow. This seems to be streamlined and decently straightforward. I do not have the concerns of this being a Spider-Man 3.

The first two are really good. I think it will be good.

Nothing else they have sparks this much enthusiasm, and unlike all of their other efforts, this series has a good track record.

I'm sure the same people who always shite on Marvel are going to come in and say it sucks.

I have a bad feeling it will be super bloated and too fan servicey and be a huge letdown

SM3 is the “history will repeat itself, if…” lesson in all of this. If they learned from that cluster, then NWH will be a success.

I’m also liking what seems to be Dr Oct helping out or pulling a switcharoo on Peter.

I haven’t been to a midnight premiere since the first avengers movie. I was a senior in high school. I am going to this midnight premiere with the same HS buddies I went to avengers with.

This movie has potential to be a great experience. I’m hyped.

Yeah it's really looking like Ock and the villains are actually going to be on Peter's side.

I bet they all have to face off against Strange for some reason.

Spider-Man 3 is Sam Raimis frick you to Sony. He had just made the most successful superhero movie ever (at the time) and Sony started interfering with the third one. So he made a shitty move exactly like they wanted purposely. He’s said as much and has apologized to fans. He’s not proud of what he put out.

I think it’ll be goblin as the central bad guy. The other villains all are kind of blinded where as goblin wants chaos

I just can’t see the Goblin doing this. He’s just all about causing as much chaos and misery as possible.

True, maybe he's the big bad. But whoever Green Goblin 2 is (doubt they bring in Franco right now) will be on Peter's side.

I think we’re more likely to get Spider-Gwen than Green Goblin 2 in this movie if I’m honest.

Watch the trailer again. GG2 is definitely in it.

EDIT - for reference.

I just think that’s the regular Green Goblin. Dafoe could just take off his helmet for that.

It's just going to turn out to not even be Dr. Strange and instead some lame villain is impersonating him.
