Can episode 5 redeem it?

If Episode 5 is well directed, edited, and put together, which I have hope for considering the director, how far will it go in redeeming Thrones for you folks?
Some of the leaked spoilers, and who knows what is true, seem a little outlandish. But if the director does a good job they can even make certain storylines that look subpar on paper be impressive on screen.
For instance this same director, Miguel Sapochnik, directed The Winds of Winter where Cersei blew up the Great Sept. If I were to read that plotline in a one sentence leaked blurbed, I probably would have thought it was ridiculous. But the way that whole scene was put together, with the ominous music montage as the wild fire was being lit, the whole thing, it worked very well. Especially with the hard cut to Tommen leaping from the window.
So let’s hold out some hope that Episode 5 and Sapochnik can bring this thing back around. The penultimate episodes of Thrones have always been the real climaxes.

The problem is that D&D wrote it. Can’t outrun and bad diet and can’t outdirect bad writing.

Ep1-4 was intently subpar in order to be redeemed by ep5? This is kind of like saying the chef f@cked up your meal on purpose 4 times in a row so he can impress you with the 5th meal.

It’s definitely still possible that they fix it.
But based on the leaks they are about to murder what’s left of the plot, douse it in gasoline and light it on fire.

I still blame Martin more. His laziness allowed the show to pass him up. His books earlier on were spaced out by a few years, it's been nearly a decade since the last book.

Agreed 100 percent. They could still hit a home run these next two episodes and all people will be talking about is the great ending. That’s not going to happen, though.

Have no idea why you thought I was proposing conspiracy. That’s a weird take.

No. At this point, it really is all about the melts.

I see no reason why it can't be redeemed. It's not like that was the series worst episode, and all the major plot points (save the White Walker storyline) can still be resolved satisfactorily (in theory).

The Long Night was well directed, so no it can’t.

I’m going to be in Santa Fe next week for business, and I’m very tempted to deliver a flaming pile of dog shite to his front porch.

At this point, it would be foolish to expect anything different from the previous 4 episodes. Just accept the show for what it is now, and let’s see who finishes on top.

I saw it out elsewhere that D&D can still win it but they need an 80 yard pass with no time left and a 2 point conversion...
Just to lake it to overtime with episode 6.
They could still eff it up there.

GRRM has no one to blame but himself. If he would’ve actually finished the books, we wouldn’t be discussing this right now IMO. At the same time, D&D could’ve had his fat arse be more involved with the writing in the later seasons if they knew he was nowhere near being done writing the books.

Seems clear from articles I’ve read and comments on his blog that this was GRRM’s choice, not D&D. I think they would have had him on board to as much as he would like, but he got butt hurt that they wouldn’t delay the show for his slow arse to finish the next book and just threw in the towel.

People are like “they aren’t as good as GRRM, why are the ending it if they don’t know how, whynis this rushed”
You see ahit like that and it’s like people forget they made 5 season 10 episodes long that tracked 5 books.
GRRM says 7 books
They planned 7 seasons.
And GRRM crapped out at book 5.
He’s been writing book 6 for 8 years now?
But the show must go on.
It’s really easy for GRRM to write these really branding stories. But bringing it all back together has been harder.
Idk they’re over thinking something
We’re over thinking some things.
I am Trying to just watch and enjoy.

In terms of plot development, this season has been really bad. Bran not saying anything really is stupid. Mad queen was called by a few, but is still kind of stupid. Arya and Sansa becoming crazy bitches is stupid. And of course, the easy NK kill made the rest of the story anticlimactic. George or someone at HBO did say something along the lines of "all your favorites will die" but I really can't imagine how they'd all get killed now. Didn't Sam go home? Isn't Sansa staying in Winterfell?
The leakers don't sound happy. It almost makes me want to read the spoilers. But screw it. I've gone this far. Maybe next week.
