Very good to almost great movie. I can see Malek getting an Oscar nom. Some layers of cheese but they didn’t pull many punches when it came to Mercury. The band comes off pretty sympathetic. Mercury is by far the main focus.
The singing and lip syncing were amazing. Great work by Malek and the editors.
None of Ali G’s dire predictions came to pass.
Some tweaks in the timeline for dramatic effect as is usually the case with biopics. It doesn’t pull you out of the movie.
The music was, of course, fantastic.

Well that's why people see these movies.
I actually bought the soundtrack to Walk the Line even though it was just Phoenix and Reese because I thought the music was great in the movie. They pulled it off.

Had some drunk ladies in the theater that tried to get a sing along started with every song, so that was fairly annoying.

Same problem. Woman singing along on one side of us, kids giggling at every gay moment on the other side of us. Hoping it goes to the Dolby theater at AMC so we have an excuse to see it again.

We had no issues with any singing or stupid giggling last night at Citiplace. It was almost a packed theater.

We had two people cosplaying Freddie with the white pants & yellow jacket. A guy and a girl, and the dude wouldn't stfu with the singing.

Saw it today, thought it was pretty good. It was your typical rock star story, nothing new there, but Rami was great and really carried the movie. Mike Myers' fake beard looked stupid. That seems like a role Paul Giamatti should have played but Myers was fine. He looked just like Giamatti with a cheap fake beard.

The phenomenal vocals of Freddy-sound-alike Marc Martel was used in certain parts of the movie when they needed non-studio vocals like impromptu live concert phrasing, writing a song, or ad libs, etc.
It was seamless.

SBC wanted a gritty character study of Freddie Mercury’s battle with the disease to go along with his bohemian, Casanovan lifestyle. It might have made for a better and more critically well-received movie.....but it wouldn’t have been what Freddie wanted. He kept his private life private for a reason. He would have wanted a film that celebrated his music - which is what this film reportedly does.
What the hell does it matter what Freddie would have wanted?

I enjoyed the movie. Like I always do, I go back and read up on the real story of the subjects.
The main thing I picked up is that Brian May is a genius. He give a really good interview.

Gay Out of Compton?
Instead of STRAIGHT Out of Compton
I enjoy some Queen music and love Freddie Mercury's voice. But, I have no interest in the movie. Maybe some buzz will get me to check it out. Likely, not.
Watch out, the board SJWs will downvote you.

Read this morning that as of today, it grossed almost $50 million in the US alone and it topped out all other movies.

May has the same position at Cambridge that Isaac Newton used to have.

I thought it was incredible. The story was really good, Malek was amazing as Mercury.
The camera work was insane. As was the editing and even the makeup was really good.
I’ve never seen the actual Live Aid performance, so that was a great ending IMO.

Anyone but me notice his line when they were arguing over whether or not to release Bohemian Rhapsody?
He said, “There’s no teenagers in the world going to be riding around headbanging to this song!” Something to that extent.
