The anime, not the live action.

I’m not a huge anime guy. I tried Attack on Titan on a friend’s suggestion and couldn’t get into it. But I started the Cowboy Bebop series on a whim and goddamn it’s incredible. The hand drawn animation, the soundtrack, characters, voice acting, it’s an incredibly well made show.

I’ve heard it wasn’t huge in Japan but it’s supposedly pretty popular here. So what is the board’s thoughts on it?

It was my intro to anime and I loved it. If you like Bebop, check out Samurai Champloo too. I liked that one even more.

Haven't seen it, but always heard good things. I recall many were comparing it favorably to FIREFLY when it came out, at least in terms of feel and the Space Cowboy theme.

Anime is a must watch.

Netflix series can eat shite and die.

For sure I can see that. It also gives me Tarantino vibes for some reason

My exact experience. I'm still not into Anime, though.

Very sound advice. Samurai Champloo is Shinichiro Watanabe's best work imo. Gets slept on considering how good Bebop is.

Heard a lot about Cowboy Bebop, but I’ve never heard anything about Cowboy Rocksteady.

its my favorite anime. its one of the very few where i tell people to watch the dubbed version not the Japanese. I am not even sure if that version is easily found these days.

All the reasons you listed. Also wraps up in a short order instead of going on for 500 episodes is a bonus.

The anime is essential watching.

The Netflix series can eat a fricking bag of dicks.

The soundtrack. The theme. The songs.

I've downloaded every piece of Cowboy Bebop music that I could. Including the Seatbelts live performances of their songs.

Talk about trigger some memories. Back when Adult Swim and Toonami were insanely good.

Pretty much what everyone here has said. It was my intro to anime, and everything about it is fantastic. I still listen to the music to this day, and Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts got me into other random Japanese jazz bands like Soil & Pimp Sessions, Tri4th, and Jabberloop.

Anime classic, and one of the very, VERY few series that doesn't get lost in it's own storyline.

Just as the piano ramps up (basically into the instrumental's chorus) the saxophone's melody sounds like a slower version of "They know that Santa's on his way, He's loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh" from The Christmas Song. It's pretty.

Now, I kind of want to start binge-ing the show if the rest of the soundtrack is similar to the 4 you already linked. Good stuff. Ahh, It just occurred to me...Jazz..Bebop..anime named Bebop =Jazz soundtrack. Duh.

Read the wiki on that one and it sounds like it’s up my alley

It's still the go-to show to get people into anime. Great show, great dub, and only 26 episodes.
You may like Outlaw Star too. And before the board freaks out, I'm not saying it's as good as CB.
