With the direction Marvel is headed, I'm guessing Madea becomes the new Black Panther.

Marvel was caught in such a tough spot with this, it’s a tough decision either way. Boseman was so iconic as T’Challa and figured to be a pillar of the MCU, so it’s hard to just replace him. I like the idea here of honoring him and finding a suitable replacement… for now.

I still do not buy Shuri as the permanent Black Panther at all, though it’s fine if she suits up here. From the original, the only person worthy and believable would be Killmonger/Michael B. Jordan imo, but that’s also odd with his arc. I’m holding out hope M’Baku is our Panther by the end of this one.

What I’d like to see is T’Challa return (different actor obviously) through multiversal shenanigans around Secret Wars time. Maybe from an incursion or something where his Wakanda is wiped out. Then BP3 could explore him coming into his own in 616 Wakanda.

By then some years will have passed since Chadwick’s passing, so it wouldn’t really feel like dishonoring him. It feels like most people already feel like recasting him is the best option, and what Chadwick likely wanted, so given some time it would be more palatable. Ultimately, I agree - T’Challa is such a big character it would suck to never have him again.

I kind of believe he has already been cast and they are keeping it tightly under wraps.

Not bad, but it seems to be a very female-heavy cast. The majority have backstories which allows for their placement and use to make sense, but Riri though? They're going to have to re-write the character from the ground up in order for her to fit there (or anywhere, really).

I like the Polynesian influence on Namor, but not the beard nor the out-tilted ears.

Namor is a classic type A personality (with a little bi-polar thrown in for good measure).

Contrast that with this...

I just don't get the aura of smug, aristocratic arrogance from this version.

Yeah. That would've been fantastic for Disney Marvel's image. No way they wouldn't look like assholes for recasting Boseman's character, or looking insensitive to the black segment of their audience by pausing all things Wakanda for ten years.

Are you implying black people don't want T'Challa recast? I hate to tell you this, but there's a very large group of people who wanted T'Challa recast including those in the black audience.

It's done now. So it's pointless to debate, but they should have pushed the movie back and recast.

Glad they went that direction and not classical comics. I would only be thinking of Mr. Nimbus.

Yeah, and the 'bone through the nose', huge earrings, goatee, and weighted down with jewelry is a better look than this or this:

It's not Polynesian, it's Mayan/Aztec. See the trailer in which M'Baku is referring to him as Kulkulkan, the feathered serpent, a famous mesoamerican deity.

Which is also why they also cast a Mexican to play him (speaking with a clear Mexican accent in the trailer) and gave him that damn goatee.

As I said a few months ago, this is not Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner. It's Senor Namor, the worst woke pandering I've seen the MCU do yet.

Those eye brows. I am so glad they didn't try to bring that to the big screen.

The movie would not be realistic if someone wasn't making fun of those giant arse music note eye brows every 5 seconds.

My only problem is that Shuri was by far the most unlikeable character from the original Black Panther. Yay, let’s make the teenage know it all who is smarter than everyone on earth and is never wrong the new Black Panther.

I actually think this background will make for an interesting movie. I agree Shuri has been traditionally unlikeable. It hasn't been confirmed how Tchalla dies in movie yet. What if, due to Shuri's arrogance and playfulness, she makes a mistake which ends in Tchalla dying in battle. Now she has to deal with the loss of her brother, learning from her mistakes, becoming a more serious hardened individual, while learning how to be a leader to the Wakandan people. If done right, this can be one heck of a story.

That being said, I do hold out hope Tchalla is still re-cast by the way of multiverse. His character is too important to Marvel to just write him off so soon. That would be like if RDJ was to unexpectedly pass after the first Avengers movie. If they were to write off Tony Stark back in 2012, that would have fricked up the entire MCU franchise.

I think they just wanted to make him as different from Aquaman as they reasonably could given that DC already introduced Aquaman on the big screen. They obviously could have had Namor in Atlantis again, but maybe they didn't want it to be too similar or compared to what DC did.

quote:

Talocan is an underwater kingdom ruled by Namor that is populated by the Talocanians.

In the comics, Atlantis is the underwater kingdom inhabited by the Atlanteans and ruled by Namor.

Talocan is based on Tlalocan, one of the underworld realms in the Aztec codices ruled by the rain god Tlaloc. It is a paradise for the souls of those who died of a water or a storm-related death. In the comics, Tláloc is the storm god of the Teteoh.

It's a pretty unforgivable depiction of Namor imo.

Marvel really needs to nail it with this one. I don't give a shite about their shitty tv shows that could of and probably should of been movies. At least i haven't since loki and wandavision.

Loki was probably the best one, and one I actually enjoyed. It had a pacing issue at first, but it was the trippiest and had a great cast.

Wandavision starts off great, but turns into a CGI battle at the end. Not to mention the weird attempt to make Wanda out to be the victim at the end; absolving her of any blame in the complete and total mental torture of the town's inhabitants is insane. They were SO close to making her arc in MoM make more sense.

It is. I learned the hard way that if you skip something (I originally didn't watch Guardians of the Galaxy or Ant-Man) you'll end up lost later. So now I watch everything to make sure I stay up to date.

Hawkeye would be next best to me, after Loki and WandaVision. I tried to like Falcon/Winter Soldier but it fell very flat to me.

I typically just watch Youtube content creators rundowns of episodes of the shows I have no interest in. This has helped me stay afloat and not miss out on any backstory.

Is that supposed to be Sub Mariner with little propellers on his ankles?

If so, that's incredibly silly.
