Comedians can have recurring themes. He spoke about getting his dog in one special, he talked about getting it trained in another. Both were funny.

And in this he talks about how he finally had to get rid of it because the dog was crazy...and that's where he overlapped into previous material about the dog.

re: Bill Burr - Paper Tiger (Netflix)
I loved the special and the material in it even though I had heard some of it before in various interviews. The biggest problem was that Bill didn't know that Dave was already killing these topics while Bill was hinting at them. Still great shite but Dave's special was LEGENDARY.

Every day that goes by, I appreciate Sticks and Stone more and more . It must be how Carlin fans felt in the 80's. shite is INCREDIBLE.

re: Bill Burr - Paper Tiger (Netflix)
Just finished watching.

That was phenomenal. It was a well thought out routine. Started off super offensive but the points he joked about made more sense through the set.

To keep it simple; he started making fun of women and feminists and male feminists and all of the PC bull shite.
And at the end recognized that he could also be a bitch about trivial matters and crying like everyone else.

His comedy is great at being a white guy that can call you out for your shit, but still understand that he is a white guy able to call out your shite.

I , personally, loved the bit about culture and how elvis "took that from black people" but then jabs about how white people created flying machines.
But hey, we can't dance.. win some , you lose some.

If you went by complaint volume you'd swear upper middle class white women with college degrees have it the hardest that any group of people in the history of humanity ever has.

My favorite parts were the Elvis documentary and the robots, especially the little joke about airbags.

Not hitting women and having a crazy dog was just a small part of two stories that were completely new to me. I hadn't heard those on the podcast or Conan.

No it was really funny but he did mix in some old material...which is fine.

But I agree with a previous poster, should've been an American audience.

Usually comedians when they go abroad tailor their act to the their audience. Bill had like one joke aimed at Brits.

But some of the American lingo he used might've got lost in translation.

He used quite a few words that Brits have different words for...off the top of my head, he talked about sweaters, they call them jumpers. They don't know what a fricking sweater is. He used some American sports verbiage, etc. that the Brits are clueless about.

He mentioned stuff only Americans pay attention to...certain in jokes about certain States.

But all in all it was funny. But it was sort of his normal routine, not incredibly new and not tailored for his audience.

re: Bill Burr - Paper Tiger (Netflix)
This week he put some behind the scenes footage on his Youtube channel. Traveling around the UK for some shows prepping for the special. That was pretty interesting. LINK

He was on Joe Rogan's podcast yesterday promoting the special. I haven't watched all of it, but about ten minutes in he talks about being conflicted on filming it abroad. Even if some of the references fell flat, it was a tradeoff with the "you people" British jokes which I enjoyed.

I'd really like to go to one of his shows one day.

It was good and pretty spot on. He's got a little Leary anger in him with alot more substance. I still think Dave is on another level, but Burr is Pippen to his Jordan

Bill did his thing on this one, it was really good. I lol'd hard when he was talking about driving by the feminist rally and yelling something offensive, then driving away and looking in his rear view mirror and seeing the feminists spinning in the street like Leatherface at the end of Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The visual I received from that had me fricking dying

This. I enjoyed it but Burr gets a little annoying with the constant screaming sometimes. I enjoy his interviews on Conan more than his standup honestly. It’s fun seeing him do his bits and have Conan’s reaction and interaction.

It's not like it's a random assortment of English citizens attending the show. He's been doing this for decades and has a regular podcast twice a week where he's discussing all sorts of American culture, using American language. The people who attend his show are already fans familiar with what he's doing.

I think that he just really liked the idea of filming at the Royal Albert Hall; and I don't think the audience being English really affected their response to any jokes that weren't tailored directly for them.

I liked the special. Not his best, but I just love the rage and ability to really take shots at everyone.

Yeah, he goes over this in the rogan podcast from a couple days ago.

Meh...watched both this week and thought Burr was funnier overall. Dave may have gone for a bit more shock value, but some of his stuff just wasn’t that funny. And I’m not a big fan of either guy - not that I dislike either guy, I just haven’t followed either one much.
