In 1995 a Fox executive paid them $1,000 to make a Christmas video to send to friends, loosely based on the previous video.
The Spirit of Christmas - (Jesus vs. Santa)
This was a big underground hit and Fox entered into negotiations for a series. But Fox balked at Mr. Hankey and eventually Parker and Stone signed with Comedy Central.
"Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo" was in the first season of South Park and is probably at the top of my list for Best Christmas Episodes.

The Bob Newhart Show has good Christmas episodes.
Either MeTV or Antennae TV plays old Christmas episodes on Sunday nights. Also, one of these channels, I always confuse them, will play nonstop Christmas episodes on Dec 24 and 25.
