Plot made no sense to me because somebody famous cannot come back as an unknown.
He had not even played pro ball yet. He was a phenom and the next big thing, but he never made it. This was in the early days of radio and newspapers were the big media. 20 years later, it is not a stretch to think most wouldn't realize who he was.

If folks want to rank A League of Their Own in their personal top 5, that’s just like, your opinion man.
But anyone who ranks A League of Their Own above Major League should consider psychiatric help. There is no reasonable set of criteria that a sane person could come up with in which A League of Their Own is better than Major League.

Major Leaguers apparently love Bull Durham and Sandlot and don't like The Natural...some article years ago.
Talking pure baseball, Bull Durham.
Talking pure movie making, The Natural.

MLB plays an actual game mimicking FOD, and it was probably one of the best one off special event sporting events in modern history. So that combined with the fact it's an elite father-son movie and an elite baseball movie, I'd put it first.
1) FOD
2) Moneyball
3) The Rookie
4) The Natural
5) Major League

My personal favorite is The Rookie with Dennis Quaid

1. Moneyball
2. For the Love of the Game
3. The Sandlot
I don't care for any of the others. Not having For the Love of the Game on your list is shameless and soulless.

Hard to believe she gave up acting and went to work at that bookstore.

the Scout, Mr. Baseball, Field of Dreams, Mr. 3000 are my honorable mention.
There are a whole lot of baseball films like The Scout, Mr. Baseball and Mr 3000 that aren't by any means great, but are enjoyable and deserve mention.
In no particular order
- Billy Bobs Bad News Bears
-42
Fever Pitch (already mentioned)
- The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars
- Major League 2
- The Winning Team (come on, the Gipper, Doris Day and the “House of David”)
-Brewsters Millions
- The Pride of St Louis
-The Stratton Story
- The Pride of the Yankees (if for no
Other reason than “Today, I’m the luckiest man, on the face of the earth)

I like this movie, but it’s as much a baseball movie as Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
