Good point. These movies deal with the archetype of the chaotic feminine. They don’t try to ramrod a woman into the archetypal masculine hero‘s journey which we so often see in movies these days. The effect is to be very believable and visceral.

Recently saw The Girl on a Motorcycle on Criterion Channel. Not a great movie, and Marianne Faithful not a great actress to be kind, but was watchable just to admire her naked rear end which is definitely a 10+.

Speaking of these female roles, Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction.

It’s a shame they didn’t continue the franchise from that one.

I watched The Girl in the Spiders Web and while it was ok, it just isn’t the same.

Both directed by David Fincher too. He’s great

Will never forgive Sony for that. They knew what they were getting into with fincher.

If you liked the English version, watch the Swedish ones. Doing that is the only way you can completely understand, and appreciate Lisbeth Salander.

The Swedish actress, Noomi Rapace, is the best Lisbeth!

1. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, released on February 25, 2009.
2. The Girl Who Played with Fire, released on September 18, 2009.
3. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, released on November 27, 2009.

In all seriousness she was fine, and the original Swedish movies were pretty decent, but they lacked the edge, and technical ability, fincher and Mara gave the source material. I much prefer the fincher film, and mara’s lisbeth, and was genuinely pissed they didn’t get to finish the trilogy.

I preferred Rooney also.

That's not a slight to the Swedish films, because they were also excellent.

I preferred the Swedish version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but the American version was entertaining.

Just did a re-watch of "The Girl...." movies. Definitely prefer Mara in Dragon. She went all in for the role.....piercings and all. They pulled the plug on Fincher, Mara and Craig for the second one and they weren't happy about it.

I really like these movies but they were not a box office draw in the US and subsequently a financial failure. It puzzles me why US audiences didn't like them.
