The classiest network and movie channel on television is being ruined by this idiot.

I used to love his second fiddle presentations when Osborne was alive. But it seems they've just given him carte Blanche to run the channel now and his real life lunacy is now running through the network.

He even found a way to interject "white supremecy" and the "racists" into the fricking Outlaw Josie Wales commentary tonight.

TCM was one of the last refuges of total and complete escapism from the insanity of the world in the last few years. I still love the channel dearly, and I used to look forward almost as much as the movie to the intros and outros... But not anymore.

Grow up. He’s one of the best things on TV. Social justice is everywhere and you single him out. Nice.

Instead of banning and censoring, TCM took the route of giving subtle trigger warnings. You should be praising them instead of whining about their due diligence.

I don't even listen to his commentary. I mute once the movie ends.

If you respected him after watching The Young Turks Election Night Meltdown, then there's no helping you brother

He gets a lot of mileage out of that last name...especially in Hollywood.

I miss the days when AMC played classic films, commercial free, and Bob Dorian was the host.

Dorian was a great, soothing presence, but he was more of a general film fan than a historian or Hollywood guy. Clooney’s dad had more insight into classic film stars, just by way of his sister and her family of actors.

My grandmother, God rest her soul, used to call him a useless greaseball back when he first came on in the early 2000s.

So, whenever he says something stupid all I can hear is MawMaw's voice say "useless greaseball"

TCM has rapidly gone downhill since he emerged. It's difficult to watch now.

He was tcm's second ever host, and he was hired in 2003.

What a rapid 17 year descent that hasn't existed.

I think Ben is an awful critic, but I don't think he has made tcm anything close to unwatchable

To me, Ben will always be "Monkeybitch" (originally, F. Scott Fitzgerald's nickname for Joe)

Yeah, he's awful. Several years ago, Rose McGowan did some guest hosting on there and did a great job. I was hoping that they would try to get her as a replacement for Ben.

That ship has probably sailed, though.

Eh... On one of her Essentials bits for Seven Samurai, she said she didn't much care for Kurosawa, but recognized his importance "as an influence on Tarantino"
