I watched this. The gay agenda of the Hollywood crowd must have been in their glory with this flick. For my taste it was too overtly in your face with flaunting the gay lifestyle in the movie. It made me queasy. I'm not sure if it was because I like Damon and Douglas that I was queasy, or the open kissing, touching and implied sexual situations, but it disturbed me as a heterosexual man. Liberace was seriously creepy. Wanting his lover to have plastic surgery to look more like him was way off the deep end in my book. It was well done. The cast was good. The movie was disturbing to me. It bothered me for 2-3 days after I saw it.

I think it was fascinating for a number of reasons

1. No matter how soulless show business is now it was even worse
2. I never realized what a scumbag Liberace was
3. I never realized exactly how decadent Liberace lived
4. I never realized how incredibly popular Liberace was-highest paid entertainer over a 20 year period.
5. It's just a good story
6. It's incredible that Liberace wen to such lengths to conceal his sexuality-not that I blame him-and that such a large segment of the public thought this guy was straight.

I'm amazed at how big the guy was yet many know very little other than that he was gay. If I hadn't grown up in LV I'd probably not know a thing about the guy.

I did. It wasn't exactly gay porn. Though, it creeped me the hell out every time Liberace called Scott "baby boy" in that voice of his.

The show seemed to realize the smoking was excessive as the new episodes have much less.

Well the whole movie was about his real life secretly gay lifestyle and the freaky relationship between the two. Hard to say they flaunted it.

ETA: Liberace was as big a flamer as it gets. Of course any movie about him is going to be flaming also.

I made it about 10 minutes. Really subject matter that I had no interest in but I tried to give it a chance. Does anyone know how it did ratings wise? I wonder if HBO will take a chance again with another agenda based movie like this.

ETA: haven't seen it yet but wouldn't mind watching it if I found the time.

Just not that interested.

That's sorta they way Liberace lived man. Really, really fricking gay. So I don't think they should have went easy on the gay when the movie is based on a gay relationship.

Kinda sad that it didnt make it to the theatre yet stupid shite like "This is the end" which was absolutely utterly horrible, can be a Summer smash type movie

The very disturbing gay relationship depicted in the film contradicts the current social agenda. Simple as that, but they have Scott say the line "we were married" while trying to squeeze more money out of Liberace. That was priceless.

I liked it. I would have preferred the regularly scheduled GoT episode, but it was good. My whacked thread about it was better, but whatevs.

Video of what his house looks like today and some of him inside 30+ years ago. Crazy thing is: he was the biggest thing in Vegas, but even then his fans were OLD, so now that they have tried to purchase his house and turn it into a museum there are not enough fans left to make it happen. Thought the movie was great, new nothing about him before, except that he was super gay.

I thought it was great too, but the little nazis who want to ferret out all of the gay guys in an attempt to gain the mainstream acceptance - have destroyed the classic "fop." Like Paul Lynde or Charles Nelson Riley, sexually ambiguous "wits" who spout great one-liners. I'll miss the fops. Growing up, it never even occurred to me that they were gay. Of course, I was a stupid kid, but I prefer the days when sexuality was no one's fricking business.

Just watched it...I liked it

Hate to admit it, but I had no idea who Liberace was until this movie (and my googling while watching). I had heard the name before, but couldn't have told you anything about him.

The plastic surgery thing was weird, especially if he was trying to make Scott look like himself like they said. That's creepy.

the tranformation of Scott from a "normal" guy to a queeny gay stereotype almost overnight was a little bit unrealistic, but overall it was a good movie.

Most of the public was homophobic during that time. But the stupid housewife demographic was very large and delusional.
