Absolutely. The first left the door open very wide open for a coherent sequel without really having an idea for what it might be.
What they eventually got was easily one of the best sequels ever made. That movie however was clearly supposed to be the end. Humanity had successfully used the time travel angle to not only stop the machines hail mary attempt at victory in the judgement day timeline, but stop judgement day from even happening in the time travel timeline. Case closed. There's a reason no other movies were made for like 12 years despite T2 doing absolutely insane box office for an R movie.
It's no surprise everything after t2 has been mediocre to terrible.
Dark fate will bomb and hopefully they'll just let the damn ip die in peace. We'll all just pretend the first two are the only two and be happy.

The claim to being enlightened just shows the arrogance of the Hollyweird elitist. If it's a good movie no one is going to give a shite that the leads are women. Plenty of successful action movies have had female stars. It's a preemptive attempt to shield himself from criticism and comes off as insecure.

Saw the first TV commercial for it tonight during football.
Holy hell it looks worse than you could ever possibly imagine.
Everything about it looked cheesy and awful. It's going to be terrible and also bomb spectacularly.

And T3 was all bout getting Johns lieutenants which included his wife, who wasnt a badass yet, but was adaptable and would become one. And Sarah made sure her coffin was full of explosions.
I can't remember anyone but Kyle and John from 4.
Skipped 5.
Even in 1 which was more scifi slasher flick she was still scrappy.
