I believe it was just under a year. It spent 15 weeks at #1.

The film was playing on 3,200 screens ten weeks after it opened, and out of its fifteen straight weeks on top of the charts, jumped 43% in total sales in its ninth week of release. It earned over $20 million a week for ten weeks, and after 14 weeks was still bringing in more than $1 million a week.

It's first run lasted from December 19, 1997 - September 27, 1998.

Avengers: Endgame get 9.3/10 on Douban film site & 9.1/10 audience score from Maoyan ticket site. Top level for MCU for both. Final pre-sale for EG is $115M.

So am I reading right that pre-sale tickets made basically as much as the all-time opening day record?

That’s crazy if true.

Do Chinese movie tickets only cost a quarter or something?

maybe. Tickets at a good theater in Taiwan are like 9 dollars and you can bring your own drinks and snacks in if you want.

I can't imagine chinese theaters being much more expensive except for maybe Macau and Hong Kong

They are cheaper, but you have to remember that over half that country is dirt poor. Even their modern cities don’t have as many theaters as ours do.

Monster $169M opening day for #AvengersEndgame at intl #boxoffice from just 25 mkts on WED. Every mkt opened bigger than #InfinityWar and numerous single-day & opening-day records shattered. China led with huge $107.5M, Korea $8.4M, Australia $7M. UK at record pace for today.
