Great first three episodes. The stupid love triangle is over and Korra isn't as arrogant as before.

The rebirth of Airbenders is awesome and great way to keep the Airbender nation from dying out.

The villains seem much better then book 2. Combustion Woman's intro was very Azula like. Which I hope means she's Azula's daughter.

The Dai Lee is back and is now working with the Earth Queen. Kind ironic given her father was completely unaware and manipulated of the Dai Lee. I got a very North Korea feel when Mako and Bolin's grandmother started worshipping the Earth queen's photo.

Also the music when Kai was captured sounded like Rains of Castmere

Honestly, I think there will be a flashback where it will be a Red Wedding scenario where Aang and Sokka are killed, but Katara and Zuko survive it. Zuko seems to be incredibly invested in this, to where it would make sense if these people killed Aang. It also makes sense why they'd keep these incredibly dangerous people alive since Aang would never approve of their execution, and they'd keep them alive simply for his wishes. The level of security they show a non-bender shows that this guy is pretty much the ultimate badass, and he's obviously well versed in airbending. I feel sure this guy was Aang's apprentice next to Tenzin, and we'll see some good stuff from him. I'd love to see an Airbender on Airbender fight, and I think we're about to get it.

I too have no interest in Korra as the Avatar. I watched her entire first book but had to give up a few episodes into her second season. She was simply unbearable. I would be willing to just skip ahead to this season had I not seen this description for the end of season 2:

loses all contact with past avatars and their spirits and has basically restarted the whole avatar line

I have no interest in that whatsoever. Is this really the case? Has she really severed the connection to all past avatars?

Sounds way too violent for nick but the did have the fire benders commit mass genocide.

The four could be disciples of Azula who did kill Aang though

Give her a second chance. These episodes show that she learned from her mistakes. The mistake made was giving her her abilities back at the end of the first season. She could have benefited from just being an Airbender for a while. And there was a perfect opportunity for her to get her abilities back when she reconnected with Rava after the Wan backstory. If she was only an Airbender then, and only Unalaq apparently believed in her being the Avatar without her bending the other elements, it would have instantly sold her on being a temporary bitch.

But she now understands why people hate her, and wants to do everything in her power to correct it. Any qualms with her character are completely addressed in these episodes, and while they're still slightly present, especially with the Earth Queen, they're very much justified whenever she goes back to her temperamental ways.

I'm kind of confused how the main bad guy, who just picked up airbending within a week has been able to take out earth bending and fire bending soldiers by himself with little to no training.

You're theory about him being the apprentice to Aang with Tenzin is interesting but where is it coming from? He had no bending powers so why would they train a normal guy in air bending when he has no poweR?

I'm thinking the soldiers aren't used to fighting air benders since they haven't been around in a 100+ years but it still seems odd he is that advanced of a bender with no training and barely having the powers longer than a week

Well, airbending seems to be the most practical of the bending arts if you aren't going to bend. I think he was an Air Acolyte, and a person that Aang largely depended on. The only way he'd be that good is if he somehow trained in airbending, and Aang or Tenzin would be the only people who could train him.

Yeah i get that. it just seems odd to teach a guy airbending who has no powers. im sure we will get some character development on them soon and see whats up! he definitely has to be linked to them somehow

Well Azula's, Amon's, and Tarlok's masters were non-benders, so teaching a second person the techniques of airbending would probably be a good idea, and actually perhaps free up Tenzin from being forced to train the next Avatar when he probably had enough on his plate already.

Yayy! Saw the first 3 earlier this week.

I like your take on all of this.

Airbender vs. Airbender would be amazing.

Yeah, I was fearful that we'd have to wait until the next series to get an airbending antagonist and a dark Team Avatar, but this season is really delivering.
