Just in case anyone wanted the lyrics to the song at the beginning of this episode.

---

Bitch I need reparations/

****s tired of dancing like the temptations/

Sell a dime bag, or that new crack fentanyl/

The same reason Prince killed/

---

My dick is like a tree trunk/

Baby catch this tree sap/

Kicked you out the condo/

This ain’t the place you sleep at/

---

Baby slide on the dick/

You can do it all night/

You can be my baby mama/

You can never be my wife/

---

*”Here’s where it gets crazy y’all”*

---

Said no to college cause it’s no fun/

Mo drugs and mo guns/

But I still might have to slap a trick/

Shout out Colin Kaepernick/

So in the hookah bar, was the owner being black but still messing with Earn significant? I know Glover has meaning in everything but I was trying to figure it out. Was it “colorism” since they were both light skinned and he was dark, or was he trying to say something like him being an Uncle Tom since he sounded like he was African or Caribbean?

I think you might be over thinking it. I think it's more about Earn and the impression that he gives people and the consequences of that.

Its kind of a ongoing thing in the show. My first thoughts that the guy was African like the guy in season one at the strip club that was trying not to pay Earn for the appearance. Its playing off a stereotype about these guys trying to take advantage of people.

It's significant because the owner is West African. He is a first generation immigrant who owns his business. However, he openly discriminates against black Americans. This is probably an extremely representative encounter for a guy like Stephen Glover (maybe not Donald). There is a shite ton of tension between black Americans and other non-white groups, especially Hispanics, Africans, and Asian Americans (i.e. South Koreans in West LA), and it was a nice contrast to Earn's interactions with the white movie theater cashier and Tracy's interview with the white business owner who told him he had a lot of potential but they didn't have an opening at the moment..

Also, I never saw the Norf Norf mommy blogger video but that was amazing. The part where she starts breaking down at the part where he says "Hoes need abortions" was perhaps the best part of it. Great work by Donald Glover with both that and the Bobby Shmurda dancing reference.

I do agree with the earlier poster who said it was unrealistic that Earn would spend his money on a strip club when he's still living in a storage unit. In particular, Vanessa would get on his case for doing that, rather than going to the strip club with him.

Also Tracy reminds me of Dom from Entourage.

Except Dom was the most annoying TV character of all time.

I just finished episode 3. Earn's character really annoys me sometimes. He always complain about being broke. Yet, as soon as he come up on some money, he proceeds to spend half of his money at the strip club. For someone who portrays himself as being a very intelligent guy who just can't catch a break, he is extremely stupid at times.

Also the Alligator scene with katt Williams running away may be one of the funniest moments on the show. It was reminiscent of Katt running away from Damon in Friday after next.

Not gonna lie. I would easily pay for the opportunity to lose to Michael Vick in a race.

Earn spending money like an idiot makes the character even more realistic. How many people from poor backgrounds save money and spend it correctly? To be fair also it started out as only taking her on a date to the movies, then to a hookah bar, not a wild night at the strip club.

The whole premise of the episode is people from poor backgrounds wanting to "stunt" on somebody. The desire to show off what they have and/or can do; show somebody up.

That's Earn's problem. He doesn't live for him or his family. He lives for other people. That's why he is always broke and can't make good decisions.

Just got a chance to catch the last ep.

That Michael Vick scene might be the GOAT cameo. That shite was hilarious. Such a surreal but possibly realistic scenario

Great episode, probably one of my favorites of the series.

Like someone else said, no way that sound guy from the studio lives

Really looking forward to tonight's episode. It's apparently titled "Helen". Which makes me believe it's about Helen,Georgia. I went to Helen once as a kid and the entire town looked like a movie set with its Bavarian village aesthetic. Hopefully, we get more Van this episode.

on my U-verse.. I clicked on tonights' summary and all it says is
" Helen"- When you go outside the city, people act different. That's why I can't even go to Marietta, too weird.
