Are the networks going to force us all into pirating again?

I read over the weekend that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is getting removed from Netflix. I believe it's going to Hulu, because Fox/FX have interest in that system.
That, and a Reddit thread, got me thinking about the broader streaming landscape. At one point, you could watch almost anything you wanted, without commercials, on Netflix.
Now, you have major networks either pulling their content from Netflix in favor of either Hulu, which is largely ad-based, or in favor of their own subscription-based services.
Isn't that defeating the whole point and counter-intuitive? I loved being able to subscribe to one service and get access to all I want. Now the networks are forcing us to subscribe to multiple services to get access to the same content we had years ago.
I'm fixing to just avoid the hassle completely and return to alternative streaming methods out of convenience. Is network greed going to kill the legal-streaming model?

i really feel bad for people who don't understand the true greatness of Netflix streaming in the 2010-2011 era

i fear the latter, which is going to segregate and destroy the streaming environment entirely

Of course. There’s money to be made, and Netflix has been killing them. So they get a double win, by starving Netflix, and putting their content on something that they can make money from

Some way, some how, I believe this will all circle back to the standard cable packages, or these streaming services are going to start costing a lot more exceeding original cable prices.

CBS app is a prime example. Garbage service. Nothing of quality on it. So they add Star Trek and make it exclusive, just to draw the Trek fans to pay $6 a month directly to CBS in order to watch ONE show. The segregation is going to make it far too expensive, when your average viewer wants Netflix for Netflix original content, Hulu for a number of popular shows and paying extra to get rid of ads, HBO for westworld and GOT, CBS for Star Trek and Big Bang theory and whatever other crap they have, AMC I’m sure will have one soon and pull their content from Netflix (so TWD and some other shows), ESPN will have separate streaming service for games, etc. Maybe even separate sports packages, NFL, MLB, NBA
Now add up all those bills, averaging $10 per month. Looks like you just transferred your cable bill you just got rid of.
But wait, there’s more! Now your internet company wants to charge you for how much data you use streaming all those shows. So your internet bill just doubled for additional streaming speed and data. There’s no winning this war, unless you make use of illegal streams and downloads

This is the reason that Netflix has been pouring money into their original content. It is eventually going to get to the point where the only real reason to have Netflix is if you want their original content. All the other content creators are going to reclaim their own content.
It sucks. I could see paying for a bunch of different streaming services costing just as much as a cable package. I guess this is a consequence of the streaming services becoming so big that they actually started to challenge cable.

Hulu with "limited" commercials is $11.99 a month I believe. For $39.99 a month they have a service comparable to Sling/PlayStation Vue/DirecTV Now which also inludes Hulu. The streaming cable service is probably where people will get their main content as TV has an evolution more than a revolution. NetFlix decided over 5 years ago they were going to be a premimum channel like HBO.
If you thought you could pay $10 a month and get to watch everything, well that was never going to happen.

Netflix is rapidly no longer becoming useful for the purpose it served for many of its users: access to movies and old tv shows. They already lost most of the great NBC/Universal tv shows of the past 20 years like Scrubs, Chuck, Community, Friday Night Lights, Monk, and Psych. Their ranks of old classic tv shows have dwindled to next to nothing. Their movie selection is a shell of what it was just 5 years ago.
All Netflix has left is original programming, and many of their tentpole franchises have really floundered in recent years (House of Cards).
The competition is now fielding their own apps and streaming services, but they don’t have half the content Netflix used to have, and they’re all ad based, and most of them barely function.
As usual, the consumer is looking to have to settle for paying more money for less content and worse customer service.

I hadn't realized we stopped.

Name other tentpoles that have floundered. Granted I don't watch OITNB anymore, but when I sit down to watch TV, Netflix is the first place I go. FWIW I'm a cord cutter with a subscription to Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Now. I also have a 4 TB Plex library.

Everyone complained about cable being expensive, yet Netflix is 14, Hulu is 12 or so , HBO now/go is 15 a month and once everyone has their own network special online subscription, it will end up being as expensive as cable

That is correct. I've always said that these giant corporations are going to get their money somehow. Sure, there will be pirating, but then they will try to regulate that more and more, coupled with harsher and harsher penalties for those who get caught. The bottom line, at least for the time being and near future, will be internet services. Especially since most of those are run through cable companies. They will lose business to streaming, but will just jack up the cost of internet to make up for it. You will always end up paying in the long run barring some serious paradigm shifting taking place.
It's for the same reasons that you see companies like NF losing more and more content. Those corporations will offer their own content a la carte via their own streaming services, and the public will suffer (well, "suffer" I guess) because in order to stay on top of being able to view whatever they want, they will be forced to pay for 15 separate streaming services. Which will cause more pirating, and then the circle will repeat itself again.
I said something similar to this recently on here:

NF will eventually be a service that offers mostly its own shite, and it will have to survive that way. Which is why it's straight up POURING money into new and original properties.

Many? Nah, HoC is really the only one. It's their longest running show at 6 seasons so it was time to be over probably.
Stranger Things is bigger than ever, Black Mirror just won 3 emmys, Orange is the New Black is popular with women, Mindhunter is a huge hit, and then you have a pretty damn successful tie-in to the the Marvel Universe with defenders and the Punisher.

i'm think i'll just rotate. Pay for netflix one month, hulu the next, disney the next, rinse and repeat.

Combine doing that with software like PlayOn and you can rip everything you want from a service within a month and put it on a home media server.

Jailbreak an Amazon fire stick, get Kodi. Be done with it.
Everything is free. Even current theater movies.

Cord cutting is not some magic solution to save that much money if you want to keep the same content legally.
These streaming sites will probably only get tougher with sharing accounts in the future.
