shite absolutely rocks. it starts slow then gets great, especially when ball fontaine de la tour dauterive shows up a couple eps in

also it is one of the most graphic shows I've ever seen.

It's very good. Great cast and cinematography. The story is picking up too, I love where they went with Perry's arc. I think there are 3 episodes left, really looking forward to where it's headed.

Other than the story line with the lady preacher, I like it a lot.

I’m having trouble getting into it. Starts off so slow. Is it a new case each week or the same kidnapping case the entire season?

Yep. Rhys, Lithgow, Root, and Wigham are fantastic.

Same here. I'm not sure what her significance is to the story line other than bringing to light just how many charlatans there are out there scamming in the name of "God".

I know those type revival meetings/services were a huge thing back in the day, but promising to raise the dead is a bit far-fetched, even for the most lunatic of them.

Her role is kind of like the wreck on the side of the road. You want to get past it, but you just gotta look before you do.

Have you seen the trailer? It implies the church/she is involved in the boys kidnapping/murder

I'm on the fence so far with it. Finished ep2 the other night, and I can't tell if I like it or not. There are some great noir elements to it, but on the other hand it gets a bit off the rails at points. It has some annoying forced agenda stuff in it (the stereotyping of catholics with that weird preacher chick for instance), and it gets a bit over the top with the doom-emo personality of PM. We will finish it though, and based on what others say it gets better as it progresses.

It does appear to be a single case for the season from what I am seeing. I am only 2 eps in though, so what do I know.

Nothing remotely Catholic about that woman or her church. Not sure where you're getting that.

I meant to say "Christians," but I misused "catholic" by mistake.

Nope, never knew they had a trailer for that show. I just happened upon it one night, caught a bit of the 1st episode late in the show and decided to DVR it to watch another time and found it interesting.

I've seen all 5 episodes so far and like the show. It's dark, edgy, has good characters and acting-----so far. Let's see where this season takes it.

I grew up watching the original "Perry Mason" shows on network TV with Raymond Burr and this take is a far cry from the original show, and I like it better.

Now, let's see if the newer version degenerates into every show seeing him winning his cases with last minute witness stand confessions like many of Burr's shows ended.

She's based on a real person -Sister Aimee Semple McPherson, who was way over the top and one of the first mega-church radio-evangelists.
