I have seen them all (including Prometheus), but my son has only seen Aliens.

Can it be a stand alone, or is context (i.e., seeing the "bookends") required?

I haven't seen the entire movie but I did watch two trailers and really enjoyed those.

Based on that, I'd say no other movies are required watching. Except maybe Pineapple Express. To get you ready for Danny McBride.

Your son should see Prometheus, as it is a direct sequel to that. Seeing the originals is not necessary to enjoy this one, but definitely adds to the enjoyment

I am mad about Elizabeth, also it was stupid of her to repair david when she know he was evil.

I saw an ad this week that I can't find anywhere to link, but it showed an Engineer ship carpet-bombing goo pods.

Have him watch Prometheus before going to see it.

I think I am too. This should be a movie where the theater will be packed in Lafayette. But maybe it will be. Who knows. But I will be going.
