Anybody else tired of these not believable action roles with lead females?

Not even so much that it stars a female, but a completely not believable female.

Here is the latest example.

I just saw a commercial for a show called “The Widow” starring Kate Beckinsale. Here is the plot:

quote:

Georgia Wells has her life turned upside-down when she receives a phone call that her husband has died in a plane crash in the Congolese jungle. Three years later and still haunted by the past, Georgia travels to the Congo to find out the truth.

So now Kate Beckinsale is hacking her way through the Congolese jungles and fighting terrorists and militia groups like she’s Rambo in the search for her husband.

It’s just so silly and not at all believable.

Yes, but if they're hot enough, it evens out.

There’s plenty of options. You can watch something else.

Somewhat. I'm okay with women doing shoot-em-ups but when it comes to actual physical combat against men (especially those with any sort of workout and/or training regimen) I just roll my eyes.

I wouldn't say I am tired of them, but there are very few I would even consider watching.

Well. She’s a vampire so she’s pretty strong.

Ah yes.

I am reminded of some words of wisdom spoken by a gent who did his share of action movies... Eddie Murphy.

"I'm a 150 pounds, I ain't whippin' nobody's arse."

Its Hollywood movie magic. If it is done well I can suspend disbelief. If it isn't then its already a crap movie anyway.

You think that's bad, rumors are, Captain Marvel was going to be the only one to defeat Thanos in Avengers movie(Girl Power), but because of backlash, Director is creating 2 separate endings.

1 with Captain Marvel the hero we all needed, and another where a few Marvel heroes(Captain also involved) help kill thanos.

Girl Power, woot!

90% of action movies are not believable. So, a woman starring does not change much for me except give me boobs to watch.

This.

The Die Hard movies were comically unrealistic but they were still enjoyable.

The ones with the men aren't believable either so I don't know why you give a shite if it's a woman killing people like they are some sort of video game character.

You know who else was 150 lbs? Marvin Hagler. All action movies are ridiculous. The ones adding a politician agenda are just more so. 115 lbs Kerry Russell beating the shite out of trained FBI agents was probably my favorite.

Atomic Blonde was so fricking over-the-top stupid.

While Ripley was believable; she was vulnerable, scared and her physical gifts were commesurate with a female...not Arnold.

But Charlize was fricking Jon Jones of the UFC.

So cringeworthy

Beating up and killing two big Russian dudes.

Gender separation does not really come into play in comic books. Captain Marvel easily wipes the floor with every current avenger not named Hulk, Dr. Strange, Thor, and sometimes Iron Man

Also, please stop, there was no way in the world they were ever making Captain Marvel the only sole reason Thanos goes down. Ever. What may happen is everyone is looking beat-up and worn down, and Captain Marvel comes in and helps turn the battle around. (Sort of like Thor's entry into Wakanda). But Thanos going down will be the result of a team effort, just like all the Avengers movies have been thus far.

Says pretty much every action movie made ever, male or female. Sans maybe ones featuring special ops folks in realistic situations. And even those are incredibly embellished for Hollywood.

Looks like she’s got a gun, so a woman shooting someone is unbelievable?

Was Captain Marvel a popular comic book? I remember Thor, Capt. America, Ironman, Spiderman, even Ant Man. I can't recall Capt. Marvel as a kid. Sounds like Marvel just created its own version of Superman. Just did some research, DC successfully sued Marvel claiming Captain Marvel was a Superman ripoff.

But John Wick beating the hell out of a shite load of dudes and pulling off all those perfect shots while diving and running around is believable?

It's not like she wrecked people. Theron got her arse beat to shite in Atomic Blonde. She used the hell out of her environment to survive.

How is it ok for Keanu Reeves to fight through 30 guys in a single scene but Theron killing two is cringe?

You left out the part about her character being ex-army. According to the reviews, this is more of a procedural mystery show about her taking down leads and clues than it is an action show.

But why skip a chance to complain about a woman starring in a show you'd never watch anyway, right?
