Why the heck does Leia, in the OT, sound so introductory in her hologram to Obi-Wan as if they had never met before? Really, if they had shared such a crazy and traumatic experience together when she was ten-years old that message would sound very different. Her tone is diplomatic and cold for someone who owes her preteen life to this guy. Why would she open it with “you served my father during the clone wars?” How about “Obi-Wan, you’ve always been there for me. I’m afraid I need your help yet again?” Or something more human.

And then on the Death Star, Vader—when he senses Obi-Wan’s presence—is like wow… a presence I haven’t felt sense…” as if he hasn’t known anything about this guy since his old Jedi days. Not at all like “once again, the guy I’ve spent the last 20 years chasing and fighting is back in my grasp.”

Really these prequels, again, just ruin good story points. Maybe they’ll address these plot gaps in the finale (like giving Leia amnesia or something) but somehow I doubt it

Because it’s Disney Star Wars, and Disney does not give a frick about things that came before and hire bad writers that don’t know the lore.

I have had the same two thoughts and mentioned them in another thread. Either the people writing the scripts don’t care or don’t know much about A New Hope.

The Leia/R2/OWK transmission and the Vader/OWK dialogue don’t make sense with all that’s happened in this series.

Dont ask questions just consume product and get excited for next product.

Man didnt you watch the sequel trilogy? Disney doesnt give a frick.

The ""lore guy"" pablo hidalgo is a kathleen kennedy lapdog that insults fans over social media. A disney exec mocked the positive fan reaction to Luke showing up in Mandalorian.

Revas actress couldnt even be bothered to watch anything star wars related - even as it related to her characters backstory. and it was not a requirement of her casting or performance.

If she, a main character in the show. Wasnt required to at least watch the OT, its entirely possible some of the writing staff did not either and just got a cliffs notes of it and went from there.

Tldr they dont give a frick and just want your money. They arent worried if it fits because they can just handwave it later. "Soandso recovered from his wounds" "a wizard did it"

That's a really good point. Hadn't thought of that.

That one doesn't bother me. It's still several years later when Vader says that.

I said it in another thread but I’ll reiterate

The frickin guy that wrote this show didn’t bother to watch RoTS which is literally what sets this entire show up

Let that sink in

Yeah that's what i figured. If reva actress wasnt required to watch a single movie then its entirely possible the writers just read wikipedia and went from there.

I'm done.

What really sucks is that half of it is awesome and the other half is god-awful

The Vader/Obi wan mental chess game with both of them thinking about their practice duel in the flashback is awesome. Super powerful Vader is awesome. Thats all we wanted to see and it makes sense

The all-knowing leia and reva are terrible and make no sense

I’m going to lose it if we don’t get a Qui-gon talking to Obi wan scene

Because the writers aren't fans of Star Wars, and if they even bothered watching the original trilogy they didn't pay too much attention.

What's important is a strong woman of color being strong, and a woman, of color.

The show is bad.

It has some good scenes but overall is just a bad show.

If it wasn't Star Wars I wouldn't watch it but I have hope for some of the franchise so I want to keep up with the story.

I will be hugely disappointed if this doesn't happen after they have teased it for so long, even dating back to Revenge of the Sith.

We're supposed to just be excited for more Star Wars without caring about it actually staying true to what came before. I just don't believe there are enough Star Wars fans out there who don't care about the lore to make this worth it for them in the long run. They're quickly hitting a scenario where "Dave Filoni isn't involved" means "this Star Wars project sucks and you won't enjoy it."

ETA: Honestly, most people I know have even resigned themselves to ignoring the fact that The Last Jedi ruined everything that came before that and are simply hoping Filoni can fix it enough with other projects to make it make sense.

That’s your assumption.

He could also being saying this like he hasn’t felt this guys Presence in a decade.

You have to assume at some point Obi-wan goes back into hiding.

First point is semi-valid, but this one is just nitpicking

Obi-Wan will get his full powers back and then wipe her memory clean or some shite.

Lol. This stuff is just as bad. People complaining about Reva and the kid has been so silly because the entire show is stupid. Every performance is bad. Someone should have told Ewan McGregor that channeling Alec Guinness doesn't mean becoming a robot with a Guiness voice inflection. Seeing Obi-Wan has been lame, and it's been a great reminder that the prequel trilogy was all garbage.

Maybe it's nitpicking, but it's still distracting, and the dialogue (both on this show, and stuff in the movie) doesn't help...

First off, Vader in Star Wars said "when last we met, I was the student; now I am the master". Obi Wan hasn't come close to besting Vader in this show, and Ep 5 doesn't help that. He escapes by playing Reva's emotions, getting her to do something Vader already knew she would, and was ready for.

A second point that still hasn't sit well, Vader made a "damn, you got old!" comment when he met Kenobi in this show. But McGregor has a couple strands of gray in his hair, otherwise looks pretty close to how he did in ROTS.

You go to their next meeting a decade later (Star Wars), and he's Alec Guinness

They don't care about the original fans. They want new fans. They've said this over and over. The original fans are too old for them.

If it detracts for you, I cant Tell you it doesn’t.

I still Feel like all fo that is minutia.

Does Vader have to say he looks old every time he sees him?

No not really.

McGregor is 17 years older than he was in ROTS. So Obi-wan has aged 17 years in 10. That’s worth noting. You do have to sorta suspend disbelief.

If Vader said “wow you look really good for 10 years in a dessert” you would probably dislike that dialog more.

As long as they have a rematch before this series is over and Obi-Wan beats him, Vader's statement can still hold true.
