Finally. Just a heads up everybody

I watched the first few episodes of the BBC TV series of Robin Hood yesterday.
They have some decent stuff on there.
To me Prime Membership is a necessity and this streaming is basically free so it is a good deal.

I agree. I had the Prime membership before I knew it came with free streaming content. It's just a bonus IMO. I've never even used it until I saw that it was added to the PS3 over the weekend

Can anyone explain this BS to me?
I wanted to see a particular old episode of Big Bang. So I downloaded the software. I activated my device etc.
It tells me I am getting a free month, and then 79$/yr after that. Fine.
Then, I go to watch the show and there is a damn PRICE on EVERYTHING! 3 bucks for a sitcom in HD (a necessity for me due to my large screen size)! Whole seasons of shows are like 20-40$
WTF am I paying the 79 for if I still have to pay piecemeal for every damn show? Friggin Time Warner Cable would be cheaper than this.
Are they kidding?

Some of the Prime stuff is not free. There is a lot of stuff there that is, though. I don't use services like this much at all, but I am a big Amazon buyer and I bought Prime for the shipping deals.

$79 is for the whole Prime Membership, not just the streaming video content. If you order off of Amazon regularly it will pay for itself in the free 2-day shipping.
Not all streaming content is free, but there is a lot of "Prime" content that is.
The way I look at the non-free items is like this: It's good to catch an episode of a series you missed, but it's not cost-effective for viewing an entire series at $2 or $3 per episode. I doubt I'll ever watch the pay-for TV episodes. I may rent a movie from there occasionally, but I mainly get my movies in the mail from Netflix.
This all still much cheaper than cable or satellite, so I'm not complaining.

I did not detect this "free content" you speak of.
Every single thing I clicked on had a price, but it was only a cursory look at the stuff on the front page.
I will look more closely, but it seemed to me that everything I wanted to see was costing.

All of the free content has the prime icon next to it. IIRC its all in a separate section than the pay content
