Six months after the first season of Altered Carbon was released on Netflix, the sci-fi series has been renewed for an 8-episode second seasons with some big changes.

Anthony Mackie (Captain America, Detroit) has been cast as the lead Takeshi Kovacs, a role originated by Joel Kinnaman in Season 1. Behind the scenes, Alison Schapker is joining the series as executive producer and will serve as co-showrunner alongside creator/executive producer Laeta Kalogridis who was showrunner on Season 1 of the Skydance TV-produced series.

Netflix would not reveal if any of the Season 1 cast members would return for Season 2. In an interview at the release of the first season, Kalogridis had indicated that Poe (Chris Conner) and Kovacs’ deadly sister Reileen (Dichen Lachman) might be seen again, despite their characters being killed off.

No timeframe for the new seasons’s release date.

Nice, Mackie is a much better actor than Kinnaman.

Far worse issues than the acting in S1, though there was def some bad acting from the leads

True, but it’s a start. Maybe the new co-showrunner can help iron out a lot of the other issues

Show was kinda boring. I'll watch if the Mexican cop lady gets naked again though.

season 1 was a letdown. Those trailers had me expecting blade runner level quality.

I liked the early episodes and found the backstory/flashbacks to be the most interesting thing about the show. I kinda wish they would have started the show further back in the storyline with Takk and his sister.

This show had insanely high potential and was still entertaining, but the acting was world class bad.

Kovacs could have gotten a worse sleeve.

They did a great job of word building but the story telling fell a bit flat. Hopefully a new co-show runner means they see the problems and are addressing them.

I seriously doubt Ortega will be in it. In the 2nd book shes not there and he has a new sleeve on a different planet. Hence why the new actor is black.
