Agreed. Obviously hindsight is easy, but he should have split the fat among a couple of spots. That’s a big loss for him but he’s so far ahead of everybody else it shouldn’t matter. Unless that other dude keeps catching 5lb trout everyday.

I have been traveling all summer for work. Finally home & catching up on the Roku History app. Holy crap this season is far better than previous seasons.

Shelter construction has improved drastically. But I'm still wanting more from them. I too want to see food storage planning/construction/placement. Having that moose meat storage + smoking done previously would've been an ultimate game changer for Jordan. If he stores that meat + fat where the wolverine can't get them, I think he goes well over 90+ days.

I think I have 1 more ep to go to be all caught up.

Jordan is dominating. Dude took out a wolverine in the dark with a hatchet.

Bump for episode 8

Michelle taps on day 48 which makes 5 survivors remaining. Most people that taps out on this show are ready. I felt bad for Michelle. It really destroyed her emotionally to accept the fact that her body was shutting down and could not continue without risk.

I didn't catch the name of the other guy, but he's missing his wife something fierce and I expect him to tap next week.

They are trying to portray Jordan as a guy that is starving but he still is getting a full belly and plenty of protein even though it's a very low-carb diet. He's losing weight, but the other competitors are worse off than Jordan.

There's only 2 or three episodes left so I expect 1-2 people to tap next week.

That chick was that tapped was impacted. Felt bad for her because you could tell she was in significant pain.

Did they even show the girl that got bit by the squirrel?

I can’t imagine a scenario where a dude gets a moose, harvests the meat and then starves.

WTF is up with these people losing the fish once it gets on shore? If Jordan taps after having all that meat he'll never live it down.

The only way Jordan taps is if it's medical. I think they are just editing the show in a way making Jordan look like he's struggling. His mind still seem's solid and he's not weakening compared to what I'm seeing with the others.

Fish are heavier when water is not supporting them.

That is why people that have lost fish make nets to ease the transitions from water to land.

Ep 9 bump: Starts on Day 48 with 5 people left

Nikki had to be medically pulled out due to losing 25% of her weight and she was a thin girl. It broke her heart having to be pulled. You could tell she didn't wan't to go.

The last day recorded (55) with 4 left had the temperature down to the mid-teens. The shits getting very real. I thought the guy who couldn't get his bow-starter to word was screwed until he found that piece of cedar to use for friction. He would have had to tap if he couldn't start a fire.

Still 4 left. I still think Jordan has this although they are editing things in a way that he's starting to be homesick. He just strikes me as too resolute and he is getting a full belly even though it's all meat and protein.

With the temperature really dropping and the lake is freezing over the ability to fish is nearly over.

I think next week is the final episode unless it goes to 11.

I'm pumped for this next ep.

Also, if you know you're going to an area with fishing as a food source, why aren't you bringing a rod + reel...?

They have line and hooks. using a rod and reel every day for 30 days without a service kit will render that assembly useless.

I'm guessing a rod + reel combined with line + hooks counts as 2 survival items of the 10 allowed, not just 1?

Episode 10:

Barry had to be medically pulled on day 69. Dude lost 80 pounds and his body was eating itself up. His mind was fried and desperately wanted to go home but wouldn't quit because he wanted to have the extra money to make life easier. I'm sure he was very relieved to get out of there.

I'm surprised this thing has last as long due to how cold it has gotten. It was down to 9 degrees when they pulled Barry.

Jordan continues to impress with weaving a fish net could be placed under the frozen lake that he had to take an ax to open a hole and caught a Lake Trout. I still think he has this unless he gets medically pulled.

Next weeks the finale. This has easily been my favorite season.

They’re starting to get desperate. Jordan snagging that lake trout under the ice with the net and then eating the raw fat at the lake shows you how desperate they are at this point in those temperatures. You can tell he’s very mentally prepared having lived with those nomads in Siberia or whatever.

I felt bad for Barry but he was almost acting like he was drunk in addition to the massive weight loss. He clearly needed medical attention.

That was the perfect description. You could tell he was in mental agony. He didn't want to be there but the drive to pride a financial nest egg for his family really affected his good judgement to walk away. But, he can take some comfort in not quitting. He was force out.

I gotta learn how to weave a fish gill net.

That lake trout froze so quickly. That was amazing to see. I wish they would've shown how he got that net out of the holes.

Wynoniya (sp) getting the 3 squirrels is clutch.

If it's me, I'm building every trap/snares that I can out there, early on. I have to figure that the contestants are bulking up on fat stores before heading out. I know there's some sort of pre-quakifying final training from local guides to make sure they know the national hunting/fishing rules & foliage & all of that. So, in that light, I'd be building & crafting everything I possibly can during that 1st week. The editing leads us to think they're crafting stuff later into the time out in their locations.
This way, each of the subsequent days are spent checking & resetting traps, harvesting the meals, & expending as few calories as possible for the long haul. But keeping "busy" with minor crafts later on would be my strategy to keep my mind occupied.

A medical pull has to be absolutely mentally defeating. Hopefully he gets to try again as a redemption contestant in a later season.

Yeah, but he was done. I think much longer and Barry would have been mentally lost, maybe permanently.

I think Barry's head was so messed up that I truly believe he would have starved to death before quitting. He didn't perceive his life was truly at risk.
