A Korean fantasy-drama

Very well written and acted.

I just finished episode 16 and have to wait on 17 and 18 for a few days.

Jung So-Min as Mu-deok is very good as one of the two leads.
Jae-Wook Lee as Jang Uk is good as the other lead.

What makes Korean shows very good is the outstanding character actors in other roles.

Joon-Sang Yoo as Park Jin and
Im Chul-soo as teacher Lee are outstanding.

Jo Jae-yoon as Jin Mu makes the prefix evil enemy.

I watch all the historical fantasy Korean dramas; this is one of the top 5-6.

There is one fantasy sword fight scene that is done very well.

Alchemy is next on my list. Just finished Our Blues. Was amazing!
Is Jung So Min the cutest girl out there?

Best lips ever.

Frist season was great, show ended on a cliffhanger.

Season 2 starts in Dec 2022.

Best show I have seen since Arthdal/Bulgasal

Was going to start a thread because I’ve been preaching South Korean shows for years on this board….but those threads are usually ignored or downvoted

Great show

I’ve literally watched nothing but Korean shows for the past year and a half. They really are amazing, uplifting (mostly), so well acted, and the ‘secondary’ characters and storylines are always as compelling as the main arc.

I would rate the Korean shows as follows:

1. Alchemy of Souls Historical, fantasy, drama, comedy.
Think Game of Thrones with comedy.
2. The King Eternal Monarch. Historical, parallel universe, drama.
3. Kingdom Season one, historical, drama, honor.
Season 2 is a far step down.
4. 100 Days My Prince. Historical, comedy, drama.

5. Rookie Historian. Historical, drama, with some comedy.

5. My Sassy Girl. Historical, comedy, drama
This will be different and funny.

Bro…

No Arthdal Chronicles? Bulgusal? My Country? Sisyphus?

Also if you like the Leader in Alchemy of Souls, check out Uncanny Counters.

Rugal is also good and i hear great things about Mr Sunshine

Arthdal Chronicles? Bulgusal? saving those two for later.

Sisyphus is fair.

Korean actors are just near all head and shoulder better than the American movies, but that could be due to very poor writing.

The overall acting in Alchemy of souls is very good, with one notable exception, but by the end of the first season he is getting better. I think you know of whom I speak, but he is a singer, so I do not think he was bad, but just on a not as well trained for the job. He will get better over time.

Arthdal Chronicles

Episode 12 is one of the greatest episodes of all time for any show I have ever seen.

It’s genre is similar to Alchemy and, most probably because of its success, is why SK shows took off on Netflix

And yea that actor was kinda stoic but at least they wrote his character that way
