LINK

Hercule Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express. His best role IMO but he had a great career.

Erin Brockavich too

Damn.

My wife and I just watched Big Fish a week or so ago and I looked to see if he was still alive while we were watching it.

He is great in Under the Volcano. May be the best "drunk performance" of all time.

Don’t forget Big Fish. That’s a fantastic movie.

He was great in a ton of stuff.

Wasn't he in before the devil knows your dead?

Eta: yes he was.

He was the best thing about the Coen's Miller's Crossing. And I'm not saying anything bad about the rest of the movie, I'm saying something great about Finney.

Great movie. My favorite scene as Danny Boy plays:

It is a fantastic movie. One of my favorites. It really rewards you on repeat viewings. I think the first time I watched it I did not even pick up that Dane was gay.

When I watch it - I think the Coens sat down and watched Johnny Dangerously and said, "We could do that, but way better." And that ultimately became Miller's Crossing.

ETA: Dane was gay IRL. (NTTAWWT)

Great in everything. I think my family got cable around 81 when Wolfen and Looker were on about a 1000 times.

He was fantastic in The Browning Version but as I said, he was always great even in crappy movies.

That I knew.

But something I just learned from twitter...Albert Finney is in drag in Millers Crossing as a ladies bathroom attendant!

I think the best compliment you can give an actor is that they were fantastic even in bad movies. Finney was in some all time great flicks but he was also the best part of some movies that weren't so great. That is the hallmark of a true professional there.

Just one of those quietly awesome old school British actors.

Soooo good in this, but then again, he always brought something to the table in just about everything he was in.

I saw that the last time I watched it! It happens pretty fast.

I don't know if that's supposed to be an Easter Egg where Leo is actually spying on Tom, or what. I don't know if he shows up in other scenes in the film, either, but that is classic Coen magic.

I really enjoyed Roger Waters' The Wall - Live in Berlin concert on video and DVD. One of the high points is The Trial, with Finney as the Judge, along with Thomas Dolby as the teacher and Tim Curry as the prosecutor.

All three actors nail it, but Finney as the Judge had me rolling the first time I watched.

That was a movie I didn't care for when I was younger but I sat and watched it again recently and it kicked me hard in the feels. I was all Niagara Falls Frankie Angel by the end.

Generation X latchkey kid checking in.

I had no idea what that movie was about all the times that I watched it when I was a kid but I just remember loving the light gun, the whole digitally inserting people into blank settings (it was 1982!) and, of course, Susan Dey.
