You're a Film Actors Guild if you're watching this over football

I'm streaming the SAG Awards on my computer and have the game on behind me on my TV. It's all good.
And besides...that game isn't a game. It's a slaughter.

In fairness, the football game is essentially over.

So far, Brad Pitt, Renee Zellweger, Joaquin Phoenix and Laura Dern have won the Critics Choice, SAG, and Golden Globe awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively. Here are the last times actors have swept all three awards without winning an Oscar.
Best Supporting Actor- 2006 (Eddie Murphy won SAG, Critics Choice, and Golden Globe but Alan Arkin won the Oscar that year.) That's the only time it has happened so far.
Best Supporting Actress- 2008 (Kate Winslet won SAG, Critics Choice and Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress but actually won the Oscar for Best Lead Actress. Penelope Cruz ended up winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress that year.) That's the only time that has happened.
Best Lead Actor- 2001 (Russell Crowe won SAG, Critics Choice, and Golden Globe for Best Lead Actor but Denzel Washington won the Oscar that year.) That's the only time that has happened.
Best Lead Actress- 2018 (Glenn won SAG, Critics Choice, and Golden Globe for Best Lead Actor but Olivia Colman won the Oscar that year.) It also happened in 2007 when Julie Christie won SAG, Critics Choice and Golden Globe but Marion Cotillard won the Oscar.
Safe to say Pitt, Phoenix and Dern are overwhelming favorites to win the Oscar this year. Best Actress is still a little up in the air because there's been multiple times when an actress won all three major awards and came away empty at the Oscars.

There was a big controversy out there among Oscar watchers back then. Most people were calling it category fraud because there is no freaking way Kate Winslet was a lead in that movie.

Has Renee Zelwegger always had such a thick southern drawl

Parasite wins best cast in a motion picture, first ever foreign film to win the SAG Award for best cast

It's going to be interesting to see if it can win the big prize come Oscar night. 1917 is still the frontrunner but we'll see what the Directors Guild has to say. If Sam Mendes wins the DGA, I think it'll be tough to beat 1917. The one thing we know for sure, however, is that the acting categories are all locked in. There will be no surprises in regards to them come Oscar night.

Have a feeling his acceptance speech at the Oscars will be a trainwreck. Can't imagine a worse situation for a person with social anxiety than having to make an acceptance speech for the biggest entertainment award in the world.

Just looking at the history of both awards, it seems PGA is a much more accurate gauge for Best Picture than the DGA. 10 out of the past 12 PGA winners for Best Picture ended up winning the Oscar that year. Meanwhile, four out of the past six DGA winners have failed to win the Oscar for Best Picture.

Also, all of these awards shows have made the Oscars so less predictable and unexciting to watch. The Olivia Colman win over Glenn Close last year has been the only noticeable acting award upset in ages. It feels like we know who's going to win these awards nine times out of 10 these days. There's no drama whatsoever.
