Trailer on YouTube

Anyone see this? First thing that has tempted me to pay for Apple TV+.

I love a lot of music from that era(born in 70), but I'm really tired of all of the documentaries about self-absorbed boomers telling us how amazing they are.

Agreed

I can't listen to David Crosby speak.

Insufferable douche, his own former band members refuse to associate with him.

It's a miracle that POS is even alive today.

Maybe I missed it in the trailer, but I'm pretty sure American Pie came out in 1971. It's probably the greatest song of that era and definitely deserves a prominent spot in that documentary.

Yeah, that looks pretty good.

You should pay for it to see Ted Lasso and For All Mankind if you have not seen them.

Queen formed in '71. However, they very rarely got political in their music so they probably won't be included in this documentary. A pity since they're arguably the greatest rock band of all time. Top 5 for sure.

They might get a shout out for forming, but Queen didn't put an album out until '73. Why would they be the focus of a documentary on the music of '71?

As opposed to the features on post-Boomer bands where they demurely refuse any mention of their importance?

I'll have to watch it and let you know. I was surprised by how much I liked Ted Lasso. It's probably the first series in a long time that I liked. The only reason we have Apple TV+ was that my wife got a phone this past year and we got a free year with it. I'm sure I will cancel once that year is up. The only thing worth it I have seen is Ted Lasso, and I think the 2ed season comes out in July so I will be done once the year is over.

Vincent off the same album is as good if not better. It's amazing those 2 songs were written around the same time.

I suppose they were just standing up on stage in silence in '71? Just because they didn't put out an album until '73 doesn't mean they weren't putting out music live on stage (which was their bread and butter anyway). The vast majority of the songs they recorded on Queen were songs they had been touring with the previous two years. Some of them even went back to the days of Smile, which was the name of the band before Tim Staffell left and Freddie Mercury and John Deacon joined.

You can't be serious. You think a documentary on the music of 1958 should showcase The Beatles?

Im a boomer and i wouldn't watch that bs. Those people are absurdly self absorbed and there wasn't anything more special in 71 than in any of the 10 years before or after.

I have zero interest in even watching a documentary on a band from the 21st century. Been watching Boomers pat themselves on the back in movies and documentaries for 50 years and still can't figure out why they are so fond of themselves.

And now we get to do it all over again with the current 20 somethings.

Great year for music — ‘68 through ‘73 were pretty special.

I’m sure my wife and I will watch it and enjoy it — we were married in 1971 and have been pretty darn happy for 50 years. That’s something few of you spoiled brats can say.

By the way, we got married the same day LSU beat Notre Dame 28-8. That was surely musical to my ears.

It moves forward with each generation. That sexist/racist Greatest Generation is about gone, the Silent Generation that slid in to selfishly benefit from the post-war growth and went on to homogenize America is too old to hate on, so the self-important sell-outs of the Baby Boomer Generation are the targets. We'll get to hating on the Generation Xers soon enough. Probably target them for their falling for the greed and commercialism of the 80's and 90's and allowing Punk to die and Rap to thrive. The younger generations will find something to blame on them.

People always think '68 or '69, but 1971 was an incredible year for music.

Some of the greatest albums ever released:

Allman Brothers Band - At Fillmore East
Led Zeppelin - IV
The Who - Who's Next
Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers
John Lennon - Imagine
The Doors - L.A. Woman
Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
