Would outsiders see the UFC as more legitimate if there were more Asians?

I feel like many people when they think about martial arts, picture somebody like Bruce Lee. I feel like they may not take white or black martial artists seriously, and see them more as "street fighters" or bar-room brawlers.

They don't fit their stereotype created by Hollywood of a mysterious Asian fighter who learned for years under a master martial artist. It's a fantasy, but people believe that those guys are true martial artists.

So my question is... in your opinion... would outsiders picture the UFC as a legitimate martial arts league if there were more Asian fighters in the UFC? Would it help if they had a more traditional style like Karate or a style like Jeet Kune Do?

What say you?

So you think racist people should take UFC more seriously. I think they prob already have a pretty good racist fan base. I've watched fights with assholes who always cheer for the white guy no matter what. They wouldn't put money on it though

There would be more Asians in the UFC if they would get serious about cutting weight. That's the problem, there's no culture of weight cutting among Asian fighters.

Not racist people...

Many people out there when they think of martial arts, think of an Asian guy.

They've been conditioned to think that way through movies. If outsiders watch the UFC and you tell them it's a martial arts competition, they will think "umm... where are all the Asian martial artists? Surely these guys aren't the best because there are no Chinese or Japanese guys".

I guarantee you people think like that.

Hollywood has conditioned people to think of martial arts as Kung Fu masters, Bruce Lee-type fighters. Jackie Chan, Jet Li, etc. Those types of guys.

If they see a white guy with a mohawk, they'll think of it as a bunch of "cage fighters" and not the best martial artists in the world.
