Deshaun Watson suspended 6 games for 25 sexual assault accusations
Calvin Ridley suspended 17 games for placing a $1500 parlay at a time where he wasn’t even playing.
Goodell really pulls these suspensions out of his arse.

It is fricked up how long they suspended him.
If London works out and the 17 games stand he might be done in ATL. I personally would not go that way. Ridley, London, and Pitts could be a big help to whatever QB they draft soon

The most serious offense you can commit as an athlete is gambling on games, regardless if you are picking your own team or not...at least that's how the leagues feel.

I mean he wasn’t even on the active roster at the time. And the league ruled he had no insider knowledge or contact with players in the Falcons organization.
He made a mistake but I think we can all agree a full season is ridiculous. The integrity of the game was never in question.

The Ridley suspension is crazy but also he is an absolute idiot for even doing it.

In fairness, an independent arbitrator ruled on Deshaun’s 6 weeks. Goodell wanted the whole year. Here’s the catch, Goodell doesn’t have to take the independent arbitrator’s result…. it will be interesting if he doesn’t.

...so, the entire premise of your post is inaccurate.
This is a new process. Goodell has no control over the suspension. The NFL asked for 1 year.
It really makes no sense to compare previous suspensions to this one other than to recognize that this is a new world. I would expect that all suspensions are going to be very limited relative to the past.
