Will more games now have to postponed if a player gets knocked unconscious, gets paralyzed or has to have CPR given to him on the field?

Will Joe Theisman or Wendell Davis type injuries OR more severe occurrences like Jack Tatum hits, Dennis Byrd Daryl Stingley paralyzations - make players so uncomfortable that they can’t continue the game to its completion?

Didn’t it happen in a soccer game last year?

Bad thread. You should feel bad.

Dude, a broken leg, being knocked unconscious, or even a neck injury is not the same as being given life saving CPR on the field.

I can't say I've ever seen it in my lifetime in the NFL.

It’s a question. Not a comment. I never felel bad about asking questions.

Rough night for the game. Hard to speculate at this point. Potential bad for participation at youth and school level. That’s been trending in a bad direction already.

This is the problem these days, more people need to feel bad and use that feeling as a filter.

It’s an obvious question and I’m glad the OP posted it.

Every injury situation is unique, and a player who dies or who has CPR in the field might (now) be an obvious call for postponement, even though heretofore it wasn’t.

But injuries come in all types and severities. It’s not at all clear in all situations when a postponement is necessary.

This situation undeniably makes that threshold a little lower. That might be a good thing, but it’s certainly unexplored territory.

I hate that I have Burrow and Chase and need 5 points to win fantasy.

You should feel bad about not feeling bad for making bad threads.

There is nothing wrong with the thread. People need to think about long term broader effects. They are going to be real for people at a variety of levels of play. The illusion of safety is an illusion and if it breaks down it’s a problem. Hard to put toothpaste back in the tube once it is out.

You can’t really plan for fan or player trauma. Luckily, Hamlin’s situation is sounding like he’ll be 100% OK but no one could know that during the acute situation.

Are you implying that football is about to disappear?

Catastrophic injury and/or death broadcast on Monday night football is not good. I did not state it would disappear in any post. It’s been a very bad year for parents on the fence about letting their kids play was the point of my two posts. Seems pretty simple and contained in the posts.

Probably a bad idea to post on this board about big picture thinking. Fishing in an empty barrel. You are right about that.
