Think it should be tiered. Have a spot foul closer to line. Put a cap on deep passes way down the field. So many times the guys are both fighting for something they are trying to adjust to and kind of bump into each other. I hate that it's a spot foul in those situations. Maybe cap it at 30 yard penalty as there was no guarantee it would be caught anyway.

I’d like to see some stats in regard to the completion rate of deep throws in the nfl vs. what % of those throws draw pi flags.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the percentages are close, thus making the spot foul so unfair. It’s such a low percentage throw.

Sorry to hijack, but the rule of offsetting penalties needs to be the first to change. How can a 15 yard personal foul and 5 yard illegal shift on the same play be offsetting? I remember last years LSU Bama game had 3 personal fouls on Bama and 1 on LSU on the same play and they offset. How is that justified?

You would never see another long pass completed in the NFL

So we can have defenders who got beat intentionally interfere?
i agree, its SOP to teach DBs to grab the guy because 15 yrds is better then giving up a long pass or TD.
if anything, the NCAA should adopt the NFLs rules on PI

end of game last minute 80 yard drive and defenders would just be tackling receivers.
