Will ESPN fold because of no sports/viewers?

It's well documented they were losing thousands of viewers daily.
Now that this is happening, how can they sustain? Advertisers have to be bailing by the day.

I would think the sheer volume of adult males now stuck at home with nothing else to flip to somewhat insulates them.

For all the people on here that constantly bash ESPN, they would be pretty sad come college football and ESPN is not there to show all the games that show.

I hope they don’t fold bc if they’re not around who will I depend on to tell me how racist I am? Espn makes me a better person.

They’re owned by Disney
They’ll make another Star Trek movie that makes a billion dollars and will be fine

Naw they bumped the MJ documentary to April 19th. They'll be just fine.

If there is college football, someone will be there to broadcast it. CBS and Fox sports channels were already broadcasting lower interest games that ESPN didn’t want.

You mean Get Up isn't pulling in those big ratings?

I'm a sports fan and honestly havent watched ESPN for more than 1 hr this last 2 weeks.
There just isnt any urgency of information they offer now.

I understand Disney owns them and has money...but that doesnt drive advertising revenue to the network.

This is it. Disney has the money to play the long game, and ESPN has plenty of rights to live sports.

They'll be fine.

They should probably find one of the largest companies in the world to back them just to be safe.

I fit that demographic and I've gone from watching ESPN every day to not even bothering to see whats on. I'll just watch Netflix or hulu right now with 0 sports. They'll definitely be hurting

No you’re right, the ratings will definitely fall with no sports
But the point is, they’ll have them and have a nice cushion to fall on since Disney owns them.
Sports won’t be gone forever.

I certainly wouldn’t be. College football’s atmosphere would go straight back to the crazy days if ESPN went under tomorrow, I’d much rather get to relive the glory days of Tiger Stadium every weekend than watch 7 extra games that I don’t really give a shite about either way
