Why wasn't there ONE left handed QB in the NFL 2019? Last lefty that started was 2015

Very strange trend. Does it spell trouble
for Tua?

"Experts" stumped

quote:

"I really don't know the answer," Baltimore Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta said.

Added Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff: "Quite honestly, I don't know."

Said Minnesota Vikings GM Rick Spielman: "I usually have an answer or can dance around a lot of things. That one, I have no answer to.

Could be but Elway thinks they're all going into MLB...strange none the less.

Like 10% f the world is left handed.

Roughly 64/330,000,000 people in the US are NFL QBs.

The odds just aren’t in their favor

A lot of y’all might not know but Tua is really right handed. His dad forced him to learn to play left handed because his dad is a lefty too.

Also in the nonzero amount of athletes opting to play baseball over football due to the value (based on scarcity) baseball presents for lefties.

Because it gives no advantage, and a strong armed lefty is playing baseball.

Of course but if you read the article (which you obviously didn't) the low numbers are still strange for the NFL.

A lefty hasn't even thrown a NFL pass in 5 years.

I've heard players complaining about having to learn how to catch football from lefty qbs but they could have been bullshitting trying to explain their drops.

Injury and lack of clutch play (except his first substantive game) spell trouble for Tua not his dominant arm, Steve Young for life, baby!

I think you're right Peter. I heard Brian Finneran talking about it on 680. Said it's big adjustment for many WR's especially these days with doing 7 on 7 and catching alot more passes throughout out the off season with the passes thrown by RH QB's

Fun fact is that the last Lefty to throw a TD was Dez Bryant.

The answer is easy though. The entire offense is flpped. Your LT is now not as valuable. As much as people say they should be easily moved over that isn't the case. Most college tackles that are taken early and switch sides have flopped. Muscle memory is such a vital skill for OL and many people don't understand that.

Also, every current offensive player in the organization has to completely flip what that they know in regards to the playbook. It typically isn't worth the headache.

A guy like Tua obviously changes that, but the reasoning is very simple in that the already low percentage of average LH QB's are not worth the total reconstruction of the offense.

So ALL these NFL GM's don't have an answer
but for you "its easy!"

Man,you need to sign up to become a NFL ASAP. You could OBVIOUSLY teach all those guys a thing or two! Not to mention Steve Young and John Elway!

Go for it dude

My point was there just aren't that many to start from, so it's not that out of the question for them to be limited at the highest level of competition. They're unicorns.
