Seen semi pro get better crowds

Because they are playing all the games at the same place
Posted on 5/21/22 at 9:40 pm to thelawnwranglers
Because there are no “home” fans

Because people only care about established sports leagues. A fact that has been hammered home dozens of times yet rich people make the same mistake over and over again trying to start a new one.

This definitely pummels it but when they're popping up a different league every year it's gonna be hard to catch on.

Are they still playing games?
Posted on 5/21/22 at 10:03 pm to thelawnwranglers
Wait, that’s still around?

Same reason UL games are poorly attended

FIFY. B’ham built a brand new stadium downtown with no parking. It’s a pain to get to, get in to, and get out of. Overpriced concessions. And the crime rate around the stadium is off the charts. Went to one game. Haven’t been back.

I watched a few minutes of a couple of games. I thought I’d see more players that I recognized, but no such luck.
I watched a little longer to try get some football excitement going, and the caliber of play was really bad. Dropped passes, underthrown balls, running backs with no moves and little speed.
It wasn’t any good.

AFA is cheap and builds a local following like minor league baseball.
USFL has a crappy product at a premium price for what it is. It also has never had a chance to build a local base.

Not gonna get local fans to buy in if the games are only in Birmingham. Sports are also seasonal. Spring and summer is baseball. Fall is football. Winter is basketball and hockey.
I'd be more apt to tune in if the USFL games were in the fall on a Wednesday

Because there are way better things to do in the spring than watch a football game nobody really cares about

High school games now cost more than that

I live in Alabama and have been to the Protective Stadium in Birmingham.
Pros:
1. Beautiful stadium.
2. Nice immediate area of midtown.
3. Prices are cheap to get in.
4. USFL games are entertaining right now.
Cons:
1. Area not safe about .5 miles north of stadium.
2. There is ZERO parking.
3. Concessions overpriced and meh (this is my take everywhere except in Pittsburg Pirates stadium)
4. There is ZERO parking.
5. Traffic is bad even with the limited fans. It takes 40 mins to get to the interstate.
I enjoyed myself and would go again and again if I had a traffic and parking solution

Pat Mcafee mentioned how the ball weight is completely thrown off by the microchip, or at least that is the complaint. They are less skilled, but that is a huge reason.
