Why don't the Warriors get more hate for wimping out and signing KD?

All I hear is "snake this, cupcake that" in regards to KD signing with the Warriors. What gets overlooked is how the Warriors themselves took the easy way out. The Warriors may not have won a legit title without KD, but they proved in 2016 they were good enough to win a legit title, even if they didn't finish the job. They could've easily brought back the same core and signed other players with the money they used to pay KD or kept Barnes and won titles that would've been cherished and remembered forever. Instead, they signed KD.

You sound butthurt.

If you have a chance to sign a top 5 player, you sign them.

hold on.

Are you really trying to blame a professional sports organization for doing what they can to make their team as good as possible?

You stupid or something?

1. Are you saying the Warriors should NOT have signed KD?

2. Are you saying no one will remember this Warriors run?

Well then...

GS's front office is obligated to put the best possible team on the court.

They did it.

Warriors are a 3-1 blown lead away from 4 straight titles. First was without KD and so was the 3-1 lead.

It is a weird dynamic.

Players are held to some weird standard that they're responsible for upholding the sense of competitive balance in the league. But teams executives are not held to that same standard.

Really weird, and stupid.

The "point" you attempt to make here is that we should fault GS for taking some kind of easy way out. The job of every member of that organization is to make them as good as they can possibly be to have the best chance to win a title, which they have done.

Yeah I guess in a few years we'll all forget they won the title because they had durant on their team instead of harrison barnes.

The Warriors should try to build the best team they can. There's no reason to hate them for doing that effectively.

wimping out

What?

They killed their biggest in-conference threat at the time in OKC, and prevented him from going to another rival. Oh, and added the 2nd best player in the world to a 73-win team.

Say what you will about KD, but that's a master stroke from the GSW perspective.

You forgetting about the 2015 season when they won it all with a roster almost completely built via the draft.

Because in the end it’s all the player’s decision. KD chose to join the Warriors, the warriors couldn’t force KD to come.

Seems like a double standard. And it's only in basketball. Someone joins the Eagles this year no one's giving him a hard time.

Players in every other sports are free to choose teams without scrutiny but NBA players have to acquiesce to these arcane rules fans and media have created about not stacking the deck too much.
