Why don’t announcers say the score more often?

I always fall asleep to these late games but when I close my eyes I still listen for a good while. I have noticed they don’t seem to announce the score or the point differential as much as you would think they would.

I had this thought yesterday. If you just relied on the audio you’d be confused as hell.

It would be a bit redundant if they kept announcing the score when its on the screen.

It’s definitely hard to follow

Perhaps you should open your eyes and read the bottom of the screen.

Maybe because it’s always on the screen?

Broadcast catering foolishly to viewers with their eyes open.

Maybe try listening to the radio instead

Especially annoying on the radio. I find that Chris Blair doesn’t say the score often enough.

1. This would require the announcers saying the score more often to help.

2. If they're saying the score more often, he can keep his eyes closed, thus the closed captions will be rendered useless.

In 2021? They are trying to call the game and put their kids to bed at the same time.

Would be pretty dumb to continuously tell the score to an audience who is watching the broadcast with the score highlighted at all times at the bottom of the screen

i understand why but have had this same thought many times. i will put games on espn3 or espn+ or during the tourney the march madness on demand app on my phone while driving.

i am not watching, dont worry, just putting my phone in a cup holder or in the passenger seat and playing the sound through bluetooth audio and treating it like a radio broadcast. but you absolutely never get a score update, it's interesting. makes sense of course, but i still find it interesting.
