Why doesn't Bob Stoops get an NFL or college job?

If he wanted to be in the pros, why not seek an NFL job? I'm sure somebody would give him a chance given what he did at Oklahoma.

Or why not a major college coaching job? I mean Michigan State was just available.

I don't see how the XFL satisfies the coaching itch; with his record he could have not gotten better jobs. As I said the NFL as a coordinator if not a head coach would pay better than being in the XFL.

Because he didn’t want to.

Didn't he turn down offers from both for the XFL? Seems like he wants to coach still but not interested in the grind of either (NFL, CFB)

When he left OU he said it was b/c of health worries and not wanting to die on the field of a heart attack like his father did b/c of the stress.

If he really meant that and wasn't getting out of dodge b/c of all the scandals that were popping up at OU at the time the XFL is the least stressful environment for him to continue to coach.

The league could be done next year.

Low pressure pay check. Why not?

Hell at least Barry Switzer won the Super Bowl.

You're telling me the 3rd greatest coach in the history of Oklahoma can't get a better job than the XFL?

It seems like Stoops would be better off coaching HS Texas Football than this XFL crap. I have no idea what future chess move stoops has in his thoughts.

He retired from coaching because of the stress involved.

This league isn't exactly high stress like an NFL or NCAA.

With A&M and Nebraska out of the big 12 and Texas doing shite he could be half-assing it to 9 wins a year at OU.

You know how pissed OU would be and the heat he would be getting for 9 win seasons there?

I think high school football can be more stressful than this league.

I think Stoops wants to still coach at a decent level, but without any of the stress. This seems like a fairly relaxed job for him.

I believe his father dying coaching is what lead to him retiring so early.

he quit while at the top of his game. Said dad died at about that same age of a heart attack and does not want the same thing to happen to him. He wanted to relax and enjoy life and family. i laud the man but idiots like you think he has an to scratch an itch.

Saban's old man died relatively early and he's still coaching.

And what does this have to do with Bob Stoops?

Did Saban’s dad literally have a heart attack and die on a football field?

Because he doesn't want a high pressure job, has plenty of money, so he doesn't need one.
All football jobs that pay a salary are high pressure, except maybe the Ivy League; and even there you are expected to win.
