Why does it go bad for Kershaw in the postseason so much?

It's almost unexplainable.

I literally just read this
CBS on Kershaw playoff narrative
The conclusion:
So don't say Kershaw chokes, but take note of the fact that he's choked, I guess?

When someone can call that and phrase it as such, maybe it's less on Kershaw and more on the manager in that specific case.
Overall, I absolutely push back against the whole "Clayton Kershaw is a playoff choker" narrative. He's shown far too many times otherwise.
I also think it would be too dismissive to try and excuse every single instance of Kershaw failing in the playoffs. He's done it enough times that discussion on this subject is merited. One of the greatest pitchers we've ever seen is nearly two runs worse in the playoffs, going by ERA. We can jump through hoops with all the mental gymnastics in the world to try and explain it away, but at the end of the day, he's been a worse pitcher in the playoffs throughout his career. There really isn't any way around that.

I thought he was pretty good tonight.
As a braves fan I don't dislike Kershaw but I'd say worn out even though that's prob not an excuse this time.
But I'm a pitcher type guy and he's led the way to me winning multiple fantasy baseball seasons in the past.
My favorite player of all time is Smoltz.

I think Kershaw was left in a little too long tonight. He wasn’t his sharpest or his worst but anyone could have casually watched the game and seen that the Braves we’re stinging him.
Still, his stats in the playoffs vs regular season, especially NLCS AND WS, is pretty hard to write off.

Yeah I‘d blame Roberts. He was doing ok but you could tell each inning was getting tougher for him. He never should have let the Braves see him a 3rd time through lineups
He's dominated the Braves in the playoffs up until the 6th inning tonight. We were like the only team who hasn't taken out some frustration on him. Couldn't have come at a better time.
Either way, he's still a first ballot HOFer. But yeah, that's a noticeable smudge on his resume.

Good pick. Smoltz, Maddux, Glavine, Avery, and Mercker were my favorite rotation of all time. Some of that has to do with me being young and that being so influential, but what a nasty lineup. I was always a Maddux guy, but Glavine and Smoltz were equally amazing.
ETA: Best rotations in history? They're up there. That Phillies rotation around 2010 or 2011 is probably up there too.

Truth. in the game thread I put up what Avery did in the 91 NLCS, but for me Smoltz solidified himself becoming a closer and was just amazing over his career.
Also my mom taught his son in elementary school in Atlanta.
And not going to lie, Javy Lopez, have a ball signed by him. And caught for Smoltz.
Damn this win tonight bringing out the feels and memories.

Combination of Roberts always leaving him in too long and playoff teams having better bats then regular season teams.

Yep. Should not have been in for a third time thru the order. The Braves looked like they had a sense where he wanted to throw

Dave Roberts isn't a real good manager.
Snit has managed circles around him.
