Why do people think CFB will die because of this mess?

I’ve seen this opinion on the MSB and SECr. I disagree.

There’s way too much money made from college football. You can’t have billions of dollars in facilities just lying there useless. The sport will go on at some point. I certainly don’t think it happens in the fall. Even if we miss an entire year, it has to come back. The P5 and FBS universities have tied themselves to this sport. Eliminating football eliminates all athletics because of the financials. That’s simply not realistic. If life ever returns to normal, sports will resume. It may take a long time to get over a hundred thousand people in the seats, and the political climate may cause some backlash, but the game will go on.

Barring millions of people dying, am I missing something here?

After the election, they will give up trying to destroy the country, hopefully.

Yeah if the Dems win, everything will go back to normal in like a week.

The media will forget about Covid and pretend they were never that worried about it after all. They will suddenly call it the flu.

Do 100,000 more people need to die for you to be convinced it's real? Facts don't care about your feelings snowflake

Yes, you are missing the big picture. If an entire season is missed, college football will survive at most schools (some programs that are barely surviving already will be dropped), but the financial impact will be devastating to all of the non-revenue sports that rely on the money that football provides. You personally may not care, but there are going to be tens of thousands of people affected if baseball, softball, swimming, tennis, golf, gymnastics, women's basketball, hockey, soccer, equestrian, volleyball, beach volleyball, etc...programs are eliminated because of the lost revenue. Especially, if Title 9 laws are not modified.

The bigger picture is college football must be destroyed if you're part of the cancerous Left. It is a tradition-bound sport enjoyed mainly by conservative males in the Midwest and South. Therefore, it is despised by the cultural revolutionaries on both coasts. They see how much damage they did this time with almost no opposition. They will be emboldened to keep trying.

Countering this statement...liberals are supposed to be pro-university and student. Cancelling the season would be economic disaster for university towns. Some would never recover and falter. They cannot afford to lose this.

ONE SIDE OF MOUTH: College football sucks because it’s an opportunity for left-wing universities to indoctrinate poor, impressionable black youth to hate white people and become leftists.

OTHER SIDE OF MOUTH: All these Marxists on the East and West coasts want to get rid of college football BECAUSE THIS IS ALL ABOUT ME!

After the election, that number will be revised "after further study".

I understand this quite well. What you said doesn’t equate to CFB dying. If anything, it shows how necessary the sport is. I can foresee a temporary halt to it as I previously mentioned. At some point, it will ramp back up. There’s simply too much money involved, too much interest in the sport, and too many athletes that depend on it

I didn't say it equated to CFB dying, nor have I been seeing others saying it will die (doesn't mean they haven't, just that I haven't seen/read that). However, I have read a lot from people concerned about the impact of completely missing an entire season.

Other College sports will die before football
Some might have to go on hiatus until football gets back up and running
