Why are people trying to say the Astros situation is a “hit piece” by the media

The reaction from the players should tell you all you need to know.

Baseball is a sport where players throughout the league get along in general, and more so than the NFL, or NBA.

The number of players calling for lifetime bans and “assbeatings” should tell you all you need to know.

Look at the players to call them out.

- Mike Trout
- Cody Bellinger
- Justin Turner
- Freddie Freeman
- Aaron Judge
- Nick Markakis
- Trevor Bauer
- Alex Wood
- Kris Bryant
- Patrick Corbin
- David Robertson
- Aroldis Chapman
- Marwin Gonzalez

And like 100 other guys.

Sure, the Red Sox deserve as much flak as the Astros, and there is certainly a double standard here, but these guys cheated throughout the year.

This strong of a reaction from the players really speaks volumes to me.

Several of those guys are notorious blowhard asshats. Particularly Bauer

And you forgot LeBron, also an asshat

Nah. Sports media is about clicks and attention. They will run with this, and keep asking the players about it, until people stop listening or players stop talking.

No agenda behind it, imo. If something else more exciting pops up tomorrow, they will move on to that.

My only question is why wasn't there this much anger from the apple watch thing with the Red Sox, or the Cardinals hacking.

This is hardly the first time in the last decade where a team has been caught, but people are acting like this is the first time this has happened since Shoeless Joe.

I wonder what the reaction will be when the Red Sox findings come out.

How am I wrong?

Obviously you have bad blood between pitchers and hitters in the MLB, but what does it tell you when Mike Trout and Nick Markakis are coming after you?

the buzzer thing was completely made up yet so many reporters ran with it that the players think it actually happened

LINK

if altuve not wanting his jersey ripped off means he had a buzzer then he's been wearing one since 2015, yet it somehow wasnt there when his jersey got ripped off

Not nearly the same as what we've seen with the Astros. There won't be nearly the outrage since it would be the second team in trouble. Most people will be about ready to move on by the time the red Sox punishment comes out.

Have Red Sox players and fans taken the same approach as Houston’s (I.e. lie)?

Because the media keeps driving the story to keep it in the headlines day after day.

They sensationalize everything (example, running with the fake buzzer story). They don’t report facts (a lot of fans have no clue that this whole report is only about 2017 and not 2018 or 2019)

I mean did Lebron fricking speak about “Deflate gate?” Or “bounty gate”? It’s everyone just piling on as if it’s the worst cheating scandal of all time.

A lot of people also think this is about stealing signs, including players it seems.

The Red Sox fans have nothing to which they can react since their punishments or lack thereof haven’t been announced.

Most Astros fans have taken the following approach: 1) Yes, they did it; 2) So did other teams so punish them the same way you punished the Astros; 3) We’re still gonna kick your teams’ asses this season.

Were you born stupid or did you evolve that way?

Lie how? Not after the fact. They cooperated with MLB once immunity was granted, yet everyone is like "huurrrr duurrrr why no suspensions, duurrrrr".

It’s bandwagon, collective group think, sheep mentality.

The TV news man said this so it must be true! Oh and my favorite team didn’t win, so that makes it even more true! (then goes on to scream at the sky and call for violence against Astros players)

At this point who gives a shite. It is time to have some players not like each other and play baseball and eat their babies. They don't need to be friends anymore. Don't like it? Who cares. They should have never apologized.
