Why are Notre Dame and Texas A&M consistently in preseason top 15?

How many years in a row can the preseason rankers be fooled? Or do they just do it for tv ratings?

ND consistently finishes seasons in top 15

It’s the Top 10 rankings that are unwarranted for ND

Notre Dame has a recent title appearance. Got their teeth kicked in but still got there. No idea with A&M.

Their recruits are overrated to sell magazines, which gives them at east one shot (their first season of real playing) to be overrated in college.

Probably in the average year a third of starters are replaced so "OMG all these 4 and 5 stars get a chance to play now!" and the ones that only played some last year are "going to grow into their positions because they are 4 and 5 stars".

Chicago and Midwest Sportswriters for Notre Dame. TAMU, I have no clue. They're barely even covered in the Houston & Dallas media markets.

You realize that ND's bowl record is shite because by constantly being overrated they get into better bowls than they deserve.

What’s your definition of consistently? Over the past 20 years ND has only been ranked in the preseason top 15 seven times.

We’re they not supposed to get in after a 12-0 season because you happen to think they are overrated?

You are confusing “ratings” with “rankings.” This is very common. You see teams that don’t live up to your subjective standard of what a top 15 team should look like (i.e. ratings). But what most people fail to realize is that these polls are “rankings” that demand you list teams in order. So let’s see your top 15 list of schools that don’t include Notre Dame and A&M.

Tamu is the biggest failure of a program. Them and UCLA. At least for UCLA you can say they just don’t care but tamu is a football crazed school in a football crazed state in the closest proximity to a talent rich city of almost 7 million people (3 million more than the state of Louisiana). Imagine being so weird that you can’t recruit a football team to win a championship with all of those advantages.

A&M isn't consistently ranked in the preseason top 15, so your entire premise is flawed. You should be asking this question about Texas.

Thanks. I put a lot of thought and research into it.
