Interesting.

Who would lead the NBA in scoring if 3s were eliminated to only 2s?

I didnt look but is Harden near the bottom?

I get my news from the More Sports Board Times, and I hear that the only way Harden scores is by free throws

James Harden is on pace to lead the NBA in WS for the third time. Here's a list of everyone else who's done that 3+ times: George Mikan Neil Johnston Wilt Chamberlain Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Michael Jordan LeBron James

James

this is dumb.

if free throws were eliminated, only dunks and long distance shots would exist. everything close to contested would be automatic contact by the defense.

How do you like that....another Rocketard starting a thread trying to justify Harden to everyone.

Look...he's effective at what he does....very effective. But it fricking sucks watching him play.

I'm not trying to justify Harden to anyone. His career, the team record and success speak for itself. I only like to rustle the jimmies of the haters, especially the ones who claim his game is entirely based on getting free throws.

Yep. Great regular season player. One of the best of the last 5-10 years.

He’s the most “joy to watch” player to come through the league in quite a while jmo. But I realize it takes a trained eye to appreciate him. Bc his athleticism doesn’t pop and that’s what is most noticeable to your more casual fan types.

This is because people falsely say he gets his points due to fouls

Clearly, this thread proves you wrong

Harden is just smart about the way he plays. He's not going to play like those super athletic guys such as Westbrook, Rose, etc. He knows those guys don't last long in the league because they wear themselves out from trying to muscle their way through everything. A long successful career in the NBA requires taking care of your body, playing smart, and Harden has been perfect at that so far. He doesn't need crazy dunks or spinning lay-ups. He takes the shot or takes the drive.

How do people think CP3 maintained such a high level of play after getting his knee-injured? He realized he had to be more crafty and smart than athletic at the end of the day and here he is still producing at an all-star level at 33 years old.

Chauncey Billups and Tony Parker were also 2 quality PG's that were never huge athletes with acrobatic games. They shot well, took the lay-ups that were given to them and played smart well into their mid 30s as effective players that started on playoff squads.

Whats Westbrook going to be like when his athleticism fades? Look what happened to D-Rose, guy won the MVP and now he's only 28 years old and pretty much on the cusp of falling out of the league. What value does Derrick Rose have? He was a guy who relied heavily on acrobatic plays to get him buckets, and when he lost that athleticism his mind wasn't good enough to make up for it.

Is that the claim? Here is my claim:

quote:

I think Harden is a fantastic talent. I absolutely hate his game, though. The stilted, foul-fests he creates make games unwatchable. That said, he's incredibly effective and a tremendous player. I just hope his style doesn't produce a championship because I don't want to see an entire league engaging in that bullshite.

You still assume FT's are a major part of his game. Kobe Bryant's 81 point game had 27 FT's made. Does anyone EVER say anything about that? No, because Kobe played a more appealing game to the eyes. Harden plays a more methodical style and he isn't going to jump over anyone to get points. He sees the game much differently than guys like Kobe.

I did. I hated that Kobe started the pumpfake jump into the defender trend we see today. I also recognize that if the refs didn't call it, it wouldn't be used so frequently, so I don't think the players shoulder the entire blame for that abomination.

Free throws are a huge part of his game, too. Based on the graphic, that's another 9 ppg off of free throws. It doesn't mean he isn't good at basketball, I just don't find the type of game he creates enjoyable by and large.
