Va Tech goes over UGA, they won ACC and were 3 in BCS.

Would be an absolute travesty if USC didn’t make a 4 team playoff I think they go over Bama and win it.

Florida making it this year would also be a travesty. This is exhibit A to me why if they go to a 8 team playoff CCG needs to go. Basically this is rewarding Florida for losing to UGA. UGA was 3 going into SECCG plays #2 Bama, the loser of that is out while sits home? That’s BS.

These threads don't really work because the rankings would be far different with a committee picking the 4 teams

I stated in my OP that I was using the AP as the BCS did not exist in 1990 when this case study began.

Very true, when I’ve looked at it in the past I’ve tried to adjust for the way the committee ranks, no way to know for sure of course.

But I feel pretty certain 08 USC goes and I’m positive 07 VT goes.

That makes sense for 90-97

But it did exist in 2007 and we also know the committee has stated they value conference titles

Why bother asking about 1995?

Yeah, they won the Pac, and Bama didn't have the clout then that they have now.

07 is tough. It was such a crazy year. I have no idea who the committee would've picked.

Well 2002 can’t be right. Miami couldn’t win a 2 team playoff much less a 4 team one

Georgia beats OSU and LSU in 2007.

IMO Bama beats Auburn in a rematch and then beats FSU in the CG.

Nebraska would’ve beat FSU in any place but Florida. They got jobbed a few times in that Orange Bowl

USC was 5 in the BCS, i think they would have gotten it on conference title and eye test.

believe it or not i think that one is pretty easy when the dust settles. Ohio State was 11-1, LSU, VT and OU all 11-2 and won their conferences and that was the top 4 in the BCS. UGA, USC and maybe WVU get consideration, but o think UGA out on no conference title, WVU on weak schedule, USC bad loss to Stanford and no CCG.

Georgia lost by 21 points to a Tennessee team that LSU beat and to a USCe team that LSU beat by 2 scores.

Cute try though.

2003 - LSU
2006 - LSU beats Florida in a classic
2007 - LSU (Yes LSU wins back to back Natty's)
2011 - LSU beats Oklahoma State who outscored Bama in the semi's

All in good fun guys.

In almost every year, the BCS got it right. In most year's there's a clear #1 team...and in some years there's 2 or 3 that are just a notch behind.

Auburn's undefeated team in 2004 would've have their chance, in your scenario.

Hopefully soon - the playoff gets expanded to 8 teams with the top seeds getting home games in the 1st round.
