Who were the players that were the “new breed of athlete” for each sport?

The Vick 30 for 30 got me thinking.

Football
Michael Vick? Cam Newton? Bo?

Basketball
Lebron?

Soccer
Christiano Ronaldo?
Beckham?

Just curious to who y’all think was the next generation of athletes for their sport.

A lot of radio hot take guys are now mocking this with respect to the NFL and how there seems to be one every few years now -- Vick, Cam, RGIII, Manziel, Winston, Mariota, DeShaun, LaMar, Baker, Kyler, Mahomes.

Jim Taylor. He was the first to do serious weight training in the offseason. Jim Brown’s string of nine rushing titles was interrupted by one year of Jim Taylor.

So i guess it was more Jim Brown.

Randall Cunningham was Michael Vick before Michael Vick. And better at it.

I'd say Diego Maradona.

Messi is incredible and probably the best of all time but Maradona started it in my opinion.

Wasn't Shannon Sharpe doing it before him?
