Jim Nantz should be at the top of your list. He played college golf at Houston with fred couples, he knows his shite.Mike Tirico is the most boring commentator on the planet. Johnny Miller can DIAF. McCord and Feherty are simply brilliant. Rick reilly isnt really golf commentator, he's much more a writer than commentator. SVP is great. Berman on golf bugs me a lil. Peter Aliss on the BBC feed was awesome. Last but not least, all the Golf channel people suck.

I like Faldo, great golfer and commentator and very modest about it. I hate Miller, arrogant shite who thinks he was much better than he actually was. The rest put me to sleep, except Feherty.

Yea, Nantz is great. I'm not a fan of Tirico either. He's fine, but nothing special, IMO. In fact, Tirico is pretty much the only ABC/ESPN guy I can stand save Van Pelt. Ian Baker Finch is god awful.

I'm not a huge fan of Johnny Miller, but he's tolerable, and Hicks is like Tirico...just ok. Maltbie and Rolfing are pretty solid, but they don't live up to Feherty/McCord.

CBS has by far the best team, and it really isn't close.

I'm fairly confident that Miller basically repeats whatever someone says in his ear. Basically a commentators version of Ron Burgundy .

ex: During the opening round of the US Open when talking about the 3some of Tiger, Bubba, and Phil; "we haven't seen this kind of star power in one threesome since Nicklaus, Trevino, and Miller were paired together".

CBS is also best because of guys like Oosterhuis, Kostis, and Baker-Finch. They easily beat Roger Maltby, Dottie Pepper and whoever else NBC has.

I still don't understand all the love for Feherty. I can't stand him personally. He just comes off as trying way too hard... I don't find any of his shtick funny.

Disagree with all the Golf Channel people sucking. Frank Nobilo is a great commentator.

Definitely all alone on that one. Once you know about Feherty's story and how he's overcome his struggles with alcoholism and depression you can't help but be a fan of his. Plus the fact that he's a gifted interviewer and is good on TV and he's just plain likable.

I caught his interview with Peter Allis yesterday on Golf Channel. Some really compelling stuff.

I like Faldo, Strange, Maltbie as analysts. They seem like down-to-earth guys.

To me the play-by-play in golf is not that important since many of the shots are on delay. Nantz has the knowledge of the game, so I'll go with him.

After watching Ernie Els' British Open acceptance speech, he sounds like he'd make a good analyst when he retires.
